That certainly makes a lot more sense.

OK, the priest ran "no ventre" together. I learned a new word today -
ventre for womb. Margaret, thanks for all your help!

He says: gemea de outro que morreu no ventre.
Twin of another (boy) who died in the womb (ventre).

2018-02-19 Thread Cheri Mello
Bill,

I don't think he's saying the process started on the 9th and ended on the
10th. It's the grammar and structure of the sentence. Something just
doesn't sit right and I don't know enough Portuguese grammar to say. And I
don't know what "noventre" is or what he's trying to spell there. That
"aos" on the next line though - if it was on the 9th and 10th, I think the
sentence would have read "aos nove e dez de Feveiro de mil.." We
definitely need a native speaker here!

Yea I think it's like Cheri said ...born together with the other that
died... and I see no mention of another baptism or obito, but then I'm not
sure what the process would be.

As far as "noventre", my guess is that it says "...nove entre dez de
Fevereiro de mil oito cento e cincoenta." LIke the process started on the
9th and ended on the 10th and he didn't attribute it to any day
specifically. Just my guess.

2018-02-19 Thread Cheri Mello
Yeah, the word(s) after nasceu is junta-something. Juntamente? The junta-
type words mean together. I believe the sentence reads "born together with
another that died." I don't know what that "noventre" word is at the end of
the line. It may be something like stillborn. Someone else will need to get
that word.

I would guess that the twin was a stillborn. I don't think the baptized
stillborn babies. Cheri
