FFMpeg?
(I may have misunderstood what you're after tho)
http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu/
FFmpeg is a complete solution to record, convert and stream audio and
video. It includes libavcodec, the leading audio/video codec library.
FFmpeg is developed under Linux, but it can compiled under most
operating systems, including Windows.
The project is made of several components:
* ffmpeg is a command line tool to convert one video file format to
another. It also supports grabbing and encoding in real time from a TV
card.

Subject: [backstage] Video Encoder

Hi Folks,

Sorry if this is OT.

Working on a new prototype and this request might give a little away :-)
!!

Anyway I am looking for a windows video encoder (command line?) that can
take static images and spit out something video webby and also be as
lossless as possible. I've tried Google and not found anything
practical.

Free or very close to it preferably.

Thanks,
Davy

[backstage] Best links of the year

Hello all

I'm doing a review of the year's best links, for use inside Auntie.

Any suggestions?

Dropsend.com is my link of the year, which is a sad reflection on my

2006-12-15 Thread Jason Cartwright
Its an old one, I know, but I got into using del.icio.us properly this
year.

Apart from RSS, I think it's the technology/site/thing/whatever that's
had the most dramatic effect on my browsing habits - with the 'network'
feature responsible for me (among many other things)...

* Browsing inordinate amounts of random rubbish on Wikipedia
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_to_the_Future_timeline,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heterodox_economics etc etc)
* Running around London with a waterpistol (http://www.streetwars.net)
* Learning about interesting tech

www.secondlife.com - although whether you want the corporation's employees
wasting every waking hour is another matter. :-)
www.hiveminder.com - collaborative to-do lists
www.battleon.com - AdventureQuest - the lunchtime role-playing adventure

and of course,

www.scopies.co.uk - for all your Northamptonshire based pop-punk

Cheers,

Re: [backstage] Re: Best links of the year

2006-12-15 Thread Mr I Forrester
So my best links are web 2.0 services which I have in my tabs more that
50% of the time

Flickr http://www.flickr.com - Growing from strength to strength with no
features
Blip.tv http://www.blip.tv - Free hosting of video of any quality and
plays well with the rest of the web
Democracy http://www.getdemocracy.com/ - As consumer friendly as web
video gets and such a good project
Twitter http://www.twitter.com - New addition but made such a impact in
its short time

Thought I'd stay away from the more developer type links...

Thought this might be interesting,

So a few weeks after Mario posted about Psiphon,

I find that the links tell you everything you need to know. Comment 16
