[backstage] RSS feed for emergency information

2007-11-14 Thread ~ : '' ありがとうございました 。

RSS feed for emergency information

http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/news/latest_incidents.asp
is a primary resource for current incidents within London.

It seem obvious that this should be available as an RSS feed, but
where is it?

2007-11-14 Thread Gareth Davis
A number of feeds are available from www.communitysafe.gov.uk covering Central
London and Tower Hamlets.

For example http://communitysafe.gov.uk/channels/13-westminster-urgent.atom
will give you major incidents in the Westminster area.

2007-11-14 Thread Paul Silver
There's a Hack Day happening in Brighton this Saturday 17th November.

It's free, lunch is provided, if you'd like to come and have fun
hacking code together, please come along and bring your laptop.

It's happening in the Brighthelm Centre, a few minutes walk from
Brighton Station, the day starts at 10 o'clock and there are more
details here: http://www.farmhackday.com

We've got over 40 people signed up, if you'd like to reserve a space,
please sign up here http://farmhackday.eventwax.com/farm-hack-day or
just come along on the day and we'll try to fit you in (if you're
coming a distance, signing up would make sense!)

Thanks

Paul

[backstage] Interview with Mark Taylor, President of the Open Source Consortium and Becky Hogge from the Open Rights Group

2007-11-14 Thread Matthew Cashmore
Direct from backstage.bbc.co.uk :-)

Last Friday we were really fortunate to be joined in Broadcast Centre by
Mark Taylor, President of the Open Source Consortium and Becky Hogge from
the Open Rights Group.

We were also joined in the discussion by Robin Doran, Matthew Browning,
Jonathan Tweed and Ben Smith - all BBC Staff who are, or were, in some way
connected to the development of the iPlayer.

This was a great opportunity for the BBC to hear exactly what the Open
Rights Group and the Open Source Consortium wanted to say, and a way for us
at the BBC to hopefully talk through some of the more complicated aspects of
what is a massive project.

I hope you enjoy it :-)

If you've got any suggestions for further podcasts in this area, or there
are questions you feel are not being answered, just drop us a line via the
mailing list and we'll sort something out.

[backstage] PlugLondon

2007-11-14 Thread Mr I Forrester

Hi All,

Just in case you haven't already seen, the first pluglondon happens on
8th December at the Skype offices just off Tottenham Court Road. Its
event which has very strong aims...

  1. A place we can discuss, explore and showcase interoperability and
evolution of platforms and software solutions. Things like mashups
 for example.
  2. A meetup of all the creative developers who put London on the map
as a centre of software innovation.

Show some support and pop along to the url below.
http://www.pluglondon.org/

I should be there, maybe to talk about Conduit.

Cheers

Ian

Will Skype be talking about VOIP interoperability? ;-)
