Communities are built around people who are willing to exchange valuables
(insert definition here). The credit crunch has hit us because we are no
longer confident with our exchange systems. The only way forward is being
confident about our exchanges, trust me.

The Long Tail is a good book but the idea is facing some criticism

Thankfully Chris Anderson is embracing the doubts and it could just be
down to a general oversimplification of the primary concept.

Also worth listening to the previous episode Changing

Richard Florida argues why it matters where we live and work.

Particularly interesting for me was his aside on Noocastle (upon tyne)

There's just been an In Business programme on Radio 4 called Free For
All. The programme was a mixture of discussion about zero-cost and
freedom but I still think it will be of interest to people on this list.

"Free For All

Maybe there are better ways of doing business than charging users for
goods and services. But is it really profitable to give products away?
Peter Day hears from two advocates of business models that turn
conventional wisdom on its head."
