So using off-line archive means that the restor functions in BackupPC are not
of any use to me? I restore managing the backups as any tar archive?

Yes, for example you can restore them offsite without needing to have
backuppc installed.

Hi, just one thing, there was another guy in this list who had the same
problems as me. I'm just wondering if he is also running Suse 9.x. It
seems to me that this might be a problem with suse 9.2 server.
