I've used the GUI to specify that only files in my home folder are backed up
(excluding the ~/.Private folder since that contains only encrypted files.)
This results in the following entry in the client-specific *.pl file:
$Conf{BackupFilesOnly} = {
'/home/michael/' => [
''
]
};

Jonathan,
I have set up a "cluster" where I have 10 backuppc servers (backup01 -
10), each one connected to LUN on a SAN. I run 4 streams on each server
with no problems and backup over 1500 Mac workstations. In my testing,
I found I got a bigger bang for the buck using smaller 1U single proc
Thanks for the ideas Holger. I'll try out several of them and let you know what
I find.

Hi Bowie,
Yes, I had BackupPC functioning before I modified the username used to connect.
But the data in the home folder that was backed up was all encrypted so I
couldn't browse it to recover individual files.

The problem isn't cpu or memory but rather disk i/o will limit you. The best
thing to do is split your clients among a few various backuppc servers with
their own storage.

Hi list,
We are about to deploy a backup system for a large number of clients
(~400), The backupPC server will be a good machine (4 CPUs, loads of
RAM) but I'm still concerned about the time the full backup are taking
and the number of imultaneous backups.
To adress this, I'm considering a setup

Hello,
I'm using backuppc to backup a Linux server over Internet ADSL.
I need to backup 200Go with rsyncd.
But during the transfer, my provider can have some problem and the transfer
have a timeout.
When the backup restart, it doesn't resume the partial backup. It's impossible
to backup 200
