Hi all, I've just got backuppc set up for the first time on a Centos 4.4 box using the provided RPMs, with mod_perl. It was a real challenge because it seems somehow to be using mod_perl2, whereas Centos only has 1.999xxx. Very confusing. At any rate, it's working with Apache running as user backuppc, on a box totally dedicated to it. I've got ssh keys set up for two Linux boxes, and tested it manually. Appears to work fine. I also have it using smbclient to get to two Windows boxes (XP and 2000). That also appears to work, though I'm not sure how given it's not using any passwords to access my shares?
The problem I'm getting is that only one machine had a complete backup succeed. And its log for 'success' has a number of entries like this: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED opening remote file \boot.ini (\) NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\* NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM\* NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \Documents and Settings\jhughes\* NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \Documents and Settings\LocalService\* NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \Documents and Settings\NetworkService\* NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED opening remote file \download\archive\apps\hd_stress_test_bst514.zip (\download\archive\apps\) NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED opening remote file \download\archive\apps\TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe (\download\archive\apps\) NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED opening remote file \download\archive\apps\VirtualDub-1.6.16.zip (\download\archive\apps\) NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED opening remote file \download\archive\apps\winamp53_lite.exe (\download\archive\apps\) NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED opening remote file \download\archive\codecs\XviD-1.1.0-30122005.exe (\download\archive\codecs\) NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED opening remote file \download\archive\dev\smartsvn-win32-setup-nojre-2_0_7.zip (\download\archive\dev\) NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED opening remote file \download\archive\drivers\brother_7820inst.EXE (\download\archive\drivers\) NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED opening remote file \download\archive\drivers\logitech_setpoint310.exe (\download\archive\drivers\) NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED opening remote file \download\ASCII.pfb (\download\) NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED opening remote file \download\boxbackup-0.10.tgz (\download\) NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED opening remote file \download\deleteWindowsGenuineAdvantage\RemoveWGA.exe (\download\deleteWindowsGenuineAdvantage\) NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED opening remote file \download\LogiGamer.NET.2.2.0.zip (\download\) NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED opening remote file \download\Softphone-X-Lite_Win32_1003l_30942.exe (\download\) NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED opening remote file \media\frknmail.wav (\media\) NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED opening remote file \NTDETECT.COM (\) NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED opening remote file \ntldr (\) NT_STATUS_SHARING_VIOLATION opening remote file \pagefile.sys (\) NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \Program Files\* NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-507921405-436374069-725345543-1003\* NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \System Volume Information\* NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \WINDOWS\* This was for the full backup. It otherwise succeeded and transferred 30gb, which I figured was good, but a far cry from the 90gb on the machine. It looks like basically any file that my local user on that machine has added, I was denied access. My SMB share is my whole C drive, and I think I'm using the administrator account, which seems to log in w/o a password. Being a member of the administrator group, shouldn't it have access to everything? Or am I misunderstanding how smbclient works, in that a password-less login has some access, but you need a password to get full access or something bizarre like that? Also, every backup I've run thus far has become wedged. Every one. I let it run for two or three days and the processes fall from being 50% CPU each (2 concurrent max), to zero. Any ideas? As you can see, I'm having a tough time with it. I like the interface, but I need to figure out what I've done to make it so unstable for me.
