Yes this should work, eg;
BackupPC_tarPCCopy /var/lib/backuppc/pc/HOST | (cd /new/backuppc/pc tar
xPf -)
Note: the extract still starts at the pc directory, not pc/HOST.

Now, I'm trying to restore the symlinks. For that I issue these commands:
