[BackupPC-users] error -4
Hi guys I built a new backup server last week (CentOS if anyone was following my previous thread) and now have everything running nicely. My log files however are full of 'error -4' messages. See example below. Am I right in assuming that I'm getting these errors because it's trying to backup attrib files? TIA Huw File /var/log/BackupPC/LOG 2010-01-31 22:34:32 BackupPC_link got error -4 when calling MakeFileLink(/backup/pc/macfs1/1/f%2fetc/fapt/attrib, 5db9f1cb70f1334117b0db5426bc0154, 1) 2010-01-31 22:34:32 BackupPC_link got error -4 when calling MakeFileLink(/backup/pc/macfs1/1/f%2fetc/fauth-client-config/attrib, e1c552f76772a566f5f8f1ac58ce092b, 1) -- Huw Wyn Jones Systems Administrator Coleg Meirion Dwyfor huw.jo...@meirion-dwyfor.ac.uk -- The Planet: dedicated and managed hosting, cloud storage, colocation Stay online with enterprise data centers and the best network in the business Choose flexible plans and management services without long-term contracts Personal 24x7 support from experience hosting pros just a phone call away. http://p.sf.net/sfu/theplanet-com ___ BackupPC-users mailing list BackupPC-users@lists.sourceforge.net List:https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/backuppc-users Wiki:http://backuppc.wiki.sourceforge.net Project: http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/

Re: [BackupPC-users] md4 doesn't match - how to solve?
Hello, I'm wondering about not finishing a backup from a windows client the last couple of days. The XferLOG stats: : create 770544/18 196608 microtech/Daten/NT/Mand.MESSE-2009/DTAHistory.MBD microtech/Daten/NT/Mand.MESSE-2009/Dokumente.MBD: md4 doesn't match: will retry in phase 1; file removed create 770544/18 196608 microtech/Daten/NT/Mand.MESSE-2009/Einsatz.MBD : same 700 1003/513 69912 nexcelent.bpxchange_old2/bpXchange.sfs create d 770544/18 0 xerox create d 770544/18 0 xerox/nwwia Read EOF: Tried again: got 0 bytes finish: removing in-process file microtech/Daten/NT/Mand.MESSE-2009/Dokumente.MBD Child is aborting Done: 15109 files, 25829421376 bytes Unfortunately the internet connection of my client interrupts each night :-( In this case obviously during the retry in phase 1? What the reason for the md4 doesn't match could be? Most likely, the file is being modified. Can I help BackupPC to find the correct md4? No. e.g. delete the file from backup or exclude it for one full run? You might need to exclude it, or use a VSS technique to guarantee consistency. [BackupPC-users] where the files come from, for rsync comparison?
I believe that RsyncFileIO.pm decompress a file into share/RStmp and than compare it (rsync) with the file from the client. But I don't understand why lsof sometimes list a file from cpool and sometimes a file from an already stored backup: BackupPC_ 21822 backuppc6r REG 254,1 16968527 13049275 /var/lib/backuppc/cpool/5/1/1/5114e50f30d80556ce4c51cc1cdd7fa7 BackupPC_ 21822 backuppc9u REG 254,1 40595312 6493166 /var/lib/backuppc/pc/st-srv-xp/new/fPROGRAMS/RStmp BackupPC_ 21822 backuppc6r REG 254,1 188638976 60093825 /var/lib/backuppc/pc/st-srv-xp/288/fPROGRAMS/fmicrotech/fAusgabeverzeichnisHis.MBD BackupPC_ 21822 backuppc7r REG 254,1 190840832 6493151 /var/lib/backuppc/pc/st-srv-xp/new/fPROGRAMS/RStmp Is that by accident or by algorithm? br Matthias -- Don't Panic -- The Planet: dedicated and managed hosting, cloud storage, colocation Stay online with enterprise data centers and the best network in the business Choose flexible plans and management services without long-term contracts Personal 24x7 support from experience hosting pros just a phone call away. http://p.sf.net/sfu/theplanet-com ___ BackupPC-users mailing list BackupPC-users@lists.sourceforge.net List:https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/backuppc-users Wiki:http://backuppc.wiki.sourceforge.net Project: http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/
