Alexandre,

On my install the file was at:

/usr/share/BackupPC/sbin/BackupPC_Admin

so I ran:

cp /usr/share/BackupPC/sbin/BackupPC_Admin /var/www/cgi-bin/

[BackupPC-users] /usr/share/backuppc/cgi-bin/BackupPC_Admin does not exist

2010-10-19 Thread friedmann
Hello,

installing backuppc for the first time, i followed the documentation, and other
tutorials.
I succeeded in performing a backup of a user, from the admin interface
(http://127.0.0.1/backuppc/index.cgi) on the server.

I would like to set the web interface available from my client machines.
Everything is OK until the step 9 of the documentation
(http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/faq/BackupPC.html#step_9__cgi_interface).

the command ls -l __CGIDIR__/BackupPC_Admin does not work properly, saying that
BackupPC_Admin does not exist...

here is a copy of what i get
r...@ubuntubackup:/home/backupadmin# ls /usr/share/backuppc/cgi-bin/
image  index.cgi
r...@ubuntubackup:/home/backupadmin# su backuppc
$ ls -ls -l /usr/share/backuppc/cgi-bin/BackupPC_Admin
ls: impossible d'accéder à /usr/share/backuppc/cgi-bin/BackupPC_Admin:
Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type

Could anyone tell me what i missed, or what i should do to solve my issue ?
Thanks,
Alexandre.

I've had good success with my Dataport removable enclosure:

Holds two drives.

Re: [BackupPC-users] eSATA drive enclosure

2010-10-19 Thread Tod Detre
We recently bought two of these:
http://www.govconnection.com/IPA/Shop/Product/Detail.htm?sku=10461177&cac=Result

One of them is installed and works fine. The other arrived damaged and
I'm waiting to get it replaced.

The great thing about these enclosures is that they don't need any
drive sleds so you don't have to mess with screws every time you
replace the drive.

I'm using a hotswap trayless enclosure and swapping the bare drives.
Mine is an internal unit that holds 3 drives in the space of 2 5" bays
but there are external versions too.

[BackupPC-users] eSATA drive enclosure

2010-10-19 Thread Chris Baker

We backup to an eSATA drive enclosure. It holds two eSATA drives of 1 TB
each. We swap two enclosures offsite about twice a month.

We are running out of space and need to purchase a new eSATA drive enclosure
which holds two drives. I am thinking of getting 2 TB drives, as they are
the largest available.

Does anyone have any good or bad experiences with any particular eSATA drive
enclosure or drives? What ones would anyone here recommend or avoid?

Thank you.

Please upload a screenshot of your status page to http://imageshack.us

You will find some hints within the documentation:
- BackupPC's CGI interface automatically fills incremental backups
- The default for $Conf{IncrFill} is off, since there is no need to fill
incremental backups.

Every time you save a backup you need the space for new files. BackupPC will
save space by storing identical files only once.
But if you fill a backup you will only create hardlinks within the backup to
unchanged files within prior backups.
