Hi,
on a particular host I see (in host summary page):
state: idle
last attempt: idle
in fact, yesterady this host has missed backup.
How it's possible?
Global configuration is:
WakeUpSchedule: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23
Host conf is:
$Conf{RsyncShareName} = [
'root'
];
After losing my /var/lib/backuppc drive, I have installed a new drive and
mounted it. But now any computer I try to backup results in the following
error:
Got fatal error during xfer (Unable to read 4 bytes)
Backup aborted (Unable to read 4 bytes)
Looking through various posts one would think
Additionally I did the following test:
/usr/bin/ssh -q -x -l root SERVER1 /usr/bin/rsync --list-only /home/
And it listed everything on the home directory of the Server I want to
backup without entering any password.

I would still check out your keys. On your backuppc server, su to your
backuppc user and run:
ssh root@one-of-your-servers-to-be-backed-up whoami
and you should not get anything returned but root. You might get prompted
to re-accept the SSH key - accept it and run again and you should get just
Les was on the money. It was the fact that /var/lib/backuppc is the home
directory for backuppc and I wasn't testing as backuppc. Reinstalling the
keys to the other server fixed the prob!

Yes - that's why I'd said On your backuppc server, su to your backuppc
user and run: - gotta doing it as the backuppc user. ;-)

Hello,
the way it is shown here: http://wiki.contribs.org/BackupPC
I want to install backuppc on my ubuntu server on a seperate disk. I have
insatlled a fresh disk for the same purpose, but I am not able to find any
directions. anyone has a step by step?
I want all the logs/config/binaries
Assuming Ubuntu packages install in the normal locations, create a symlink
linking /var/lib/backuppc to your desired mount. Then it should just be
apt-get install backuppc.
