I am running backuppc version 3.
dpkg shows 3.3.1-2ubuntu3.1
server is Ubuntu 16.04
client is Ubuntu 14.04

Thanks Craig for looking at this. To check if the problem could be
reproduced, I've renamed the faulty host dir and started with fresh
backup (and up to now, no errors occured). I still have the faulty
directory
