new to backuppc, I want to use to send my backups
across the Internet (DSL) to an offsite server.
Are there any known backuppc tweaks/settings that
are proven to increase transfer performance over
wan links? Specifically with using rsyncd or rsync
as the transfer method.
For example a

my backups and I can't seem to get the syntax
correct.
my rsync share is /mnt/wkm_main/vol1
and I'm trying to exclude
/mnt/wkm_main/vol1/Email (folder)
first I just added Email
next I tried
/mnt/wkm_main/vol1/Email
what am I missing? thx.

and I'm trying to exclude a sub-directory
of Email.
Exact setting right now is
BackupFilesExclude = '/mnt/wkm_main/vol1/Email'
(I'm using the single quotes)

of files effecting transfer time?
I have 2 big backup jobs which are taking too
long over a WAN link. Would it be advisable to
break the jobs up into many smaller jobs with

thx - update to this old post. I managed to find my problem
the issues was mostly me being new to the backuppc program.
My exludes looked right on the cgi interface but when I went
into the config files for each host the syntax was incorrect
for my exlude statements.

Hi I just installed the latest backuppc
version 3.2.0beta0. When I try to do
a full backup of a test host I'm seeing
this error in the log
2009-04-12 11:07:14 User backuppc requested backup of scvffs09 (scvffs09)

Hi Thanks for the Reply. The xfer method ftp in the error
confused me as well, from the CGI interface it is set to
rsync When I check the hosts config file there is NO line
for xfer method if I manually add it, it seems to ignore it.

Is there anyway to adjust this or tell the job to skip
files that are open etc ...?
