Hello,
I'm experiencing some slow performance by some FD.
A specific installation has some different backup rates on 2 FDs and I can't
see the reason:
- main SD , running also FD for self backup - Solaris 10 SPARC SunFire280R
(1421.2KB/s, 596MB of data - slow but too few data being copied to be
considered)
- main DIR + Postgres, running also FD for self backup - Solaris 10 x86
biprocessor (4343.3KB/s, 64.85GB of data)
- FD on a Solaris 10 x86 (6229.2KB/s, 3.637GB of data)
- FD on a Win2003 x86 (4584.7KB/s, 67.67GB of data)
- FD on a Solaris 10 SPARC SunFire280R biprocessor (7344.9KB/s, 11.13GB of data)
These are the last two FDs that I'm trying to guess reasons:
- FD on a Solaris 10 x86 (1134.3KB/s, 11.46GB of data)
- FD on a Win2003 x86 (1194.8KB/s, 41.88GB of data)
I have already made tests through 'netio' between various machines (SD->FD,
DIR-FD), and I've found equal results between any combination (an avarage of
10-11MB/s).
I also tried to rise the "Maximum Network Buffer Size = 65536", as suggested in
some mail I've found in this mailing list, with no difference.
Bacula versions are all 1.38.11.
What can I investigate on FDs to gain faster performances?
I must also admit that even the machines running at 4-7MB/s are not running at
full transfer rate, meaning that the LTO1 behind the SD may run actually faster.
I have similar problems on other installation, where different FDs come out
with slow rates.
Thanx for any help.
Gabriele.
