[Bacula-users] Question about bacula 13.0.x isntallation

2023-01-26 Thread Robin Schröter

Hello,

at the moment we have to seperate Ubunut 20.04 Server.

One has Bacula-director 9.4.2 and the other has Bacula-sd 9.4.2

I got the repo link from bacula
https://www.bacula.org/packages/***/debs/13.0.1/dists/focal/main/binary-amd64/
there are the packeges I can get into ubuntu using the sources.list.

The problem is I cant find the bacual-sd nor the bacula-director as
seperate packeges.

I wanted to update the bacula version on these two ubuntu Servers to the
newest 13.0.x version.

For that I need to install the bacula-sd and bacula-director seperatly
on two different servers.

The other bacula version also only have these packeges.

bacula-cdp-plugin_13.0.1-22081215~focal_amd64.deb
bacula-client_13.0.1-22081215~focal_amd64.deb
bacula-cloud-storage-common_13.0.1-22081215~focal_amd64.deb
bacula-cloud-storage-s3_13.0.1-22081215~focal_amd64.deb
bacula-common_13.0.1-22081215~focal_amd64.deb
bacula-console_13.0.1-22081215~focal_amd64.deb
bacula-docker-plugin_13.0.1-22081215~focal_amd64.deb
bacula-docker-tools_13.0.1-22081215~focal_amd64.deb
bacula-kubernetes-plugin_13.0.1-22081215~focal_amd64.deb
bacula-kubernetes-tools_13.0.1-22081215~focal_amd64.deb
bacula-mysql_13.0.1-22081215~focal_amd64.deb
bacula-postgresql_13.0.1-22081215~focal_amd64.deb
bacula_13.0.1-22081215~focal_all.deb

I can install the bacula_13.0.1-22081215~focal_all.deb packed but that
doesnt list bacula-sd or bacula-director as installed packeges.
In addition to that that packed also wants to install postgresql that we
dont wanna use.

Is there a possibility to install bacula-director and bacula-sd 13.0.x
speratly on two different servers without compiling it new? (Because we
want to upgarde the already installed version)

Re: [Bacula-users] Bacula 9.6 - Pool clean up (with migration?)

Thank you Pedro for your answer.

The problem in using the Scratch pool (which I regularly used with
tape volumes) with file volumes, in general, is that I want to keep
different namespaces for volumes for full backups and volumes for
incremental backups.

Apart from this, I cannot figure out how using the Scratch pool could
help me right now to get rid of the volumes I need to delete from the
filesystem in a short time.

Thank you very much, anyway,

regards!

Re: [Bacula-users] Bacula 9.6 - Pool clean up (with migration?)

2023-01-26 Thread Pedro Oliveira

Hi Andrea,

You could take advantage of the Bacula Recycle and Scratch Pools.

Scratch Pool, pre-created volumes

The scratch pool is an excellent labour-saving feature. Rather than
pre-assign all your volumes to the different backup pools, you can place
all your volumes into the scratch pool, and configure your backup pools
to take a new volume from the scratch pool when needed, and return
expired volumes back to the scratch pool when recycled. This means your
backup pools only ever contain full (or a single part-used) volumes.
This is again useful when running low on disk space, since volumes no
longer need to be manually moved and relabelled to make space elsewhere.

[Bacula-users] Bacula 9.6 - Pool clean up (with migration?)

2023-01-26 Thread Andrea Brugiolo
Dear All,

I run Bacula 9.6.7 in a Debian GNU/Linux box and I have this situation
(simplified):

Pool: Monthly
+-+-+---+
| mediaid | volumename  | volstatus |
+-+-+---+
|   1 | VOLFULL0001 | Purged|
|   2 | VOLFULL0002 | Purged|
|   3 | VOLFULL0003 | Purged|
|   4 | VOLFULL0004 | Purged|
|   5 | VOLFULL0005 | Full  |
|   6 | VOLFULL0006 | Full  |
|   7 | VOLFULL0007 | Full  |
+

I would like to migrate jobs data from volumes 5-7 to volumes 1-4 and
then delete volumes 5-7.

I have set up a new pool "Migrate" to which I have transferred volumes
5-7 and set up a job definition for migrating data from pool Migrate
to the original pool Monthly but it doesn't work (migration jobs are
"waiting on max Storage jobs") and the manual says: "ensure that [...]
you always migrate to pools with different Media Types."

Question #1: the pools I am trying to migrate between are both of File
type: what is the rationale behind the constraint described in the
manual?

Question #2: it seems that in Bacula 11 this constraint is not present
any more but upgrading to Bacula 11 is not an option for me right now.
Do You have any smart idea to accomplish my goal with Bacula 9.6?

Thank you very much in advance,

best regards!

[Bacula-users] Messages resources and spurious email...

2023-01-26 Thread Marco Gaiarin

In my bacula director i have a Messages resoruces used for generic messages
like:

 Messages {
  Name = Daemon
  Description = "Messages resource for daemons (no jobs)"
  mailcommand = "/usr/sbin/bsmtp -h localhost -f \"\(Bacula LNF\) \<%r\>\" -s
\"[BaculaLNF] Notifica generica dal sistema di backup.\" %r"
  mail = some.e@mail.address = all, !skipped
  console = all, !skipped, !saved
  append = "/var/log/bacula/bacula.log" = all, !skipped
  catalog = all, !skipped, !saved
 }

In some event, tipically when director get restarted, but also sometime
whene someone on bacula console type 'messages' to show the messages log, i
got spurious email with, as an example:

 26-Jan 11:07 lnfbacula-dir JobId 0: Max configured use duration=864,000 sec.
exceeded. Marking Volume "SVPVE3002" as Used.
 26-Jan 11:07 lnfbacula-dir JobId 0: Max configured use duration=86,400 sec.
exceeded. Marking Volume "PDPVE2RDX_0002_0003" as Used.
 26-Jan 11:07 lnfbacula-dir JobId 0: Recycled volume "PDPVE2RDX_0001_0004"

 23-Jan 16:00 lnfbacula-dir JobId 0: Error: bsockcore.c:285 gethostbyname() for
host "bts-station1513.dyn.pp.lnf.it" failed: ERR=Name or service not known
 23-Jan 16:00 lnfbacula-dir JobId 0: Failed to connect to File daemon.
 23-Jan 16:00 lnfbacula-dir JobId 0: 3000 JobId=3205
Job="Bts-station1513.2023-01-23_08.00.00_40" marked to be canceled.

('bts-station1513.dyn.pp.lnf.it' is an host that is not always on, so it is
normal as an error).

I've log full of these, clearly, but simply sometime they are sent via
message resources, while normally no.

WHY?! Thanks.
