[Bacula-users] Bacula-Web project reloaded

2010-11-10 Thread Bacula-Dev
I'd like to announce that the project Bacula-Web has reloaded.
As confirmed by Kern and Eric, I'll be the new official maintener.

Bacula-Web was initially written by Juan Luis Frances a few years ago.
I'm just looking forward to continue the development of this project by
implementing new features and fixing bugs.

Bacula-Web is not currently in a stable state, there's a lot of bugs to
fix and enhancement which have to be developed.

Here's a list of features and improvments I've planned to develop in the
next 6 month

  - Improve support for MySQL, postgreSQL and SQLite
  - Make Bacula-Web more W3C compliant (already done in the last patch)
  - Improve the design (more dynamic interface)
  - Customizable dashboard
  - Authentication and ACL
  - Custom reporting options
  - etc ...

The latest source code of Bacula-Web is available in the Bacula's git repo
(Branch-5.1) or
available through this url
http://bacula-web.dflc.ch/download/bacula-web.tar.gz

Feel free to submit new bug reports or feature requests in the dedicated
Mantis Bug Tracking at http://bacula-web.dflc.ch/bugs

You’ll find more information about this project at http://bacula-web.dflc.ch

Best regards

[Bacula-users] Files, jobs and volumes retention

2011-08-02 Thread Bacula-Dev
Dear all,

I need a more clear explanation on bacula retentions.

Here's an example of what I would like to define on my director

Pool {
  Name = Full
  Pool Type = Backup

  Volume Retention = 2 weeks
}

JobDefs {

  Job Retention = 4 weeks
  File Retention = 6 months

}

and so on

Assuming that I scheduled an incremental job every day and at the end of the
month (eg. last Saturday), I scheduled a full backup of my client.
What about my previous full backup if I defined the job retention to 4 weeks
(should be 2 months - 1 day).

If the volume retention is applied without taking care of the Job retention,
I'll not be able to restore an incremental job without the previous full
(that has been deleted by the volume retention).

Am I right ?

Thanks for your feedback.

Re: [Bacula-users] A (web based) gui on FreeBSD 8.0. Nothing works, except webmin

2011-09-12 Thread Bacula-Dev
Hi Oliver,

Did you already have a look on Bacula-Web ?
It should work fine with PHP5 on FreeBSD 8.0.

http://bacula-web.dflc.ch

Best regards

Davide

Hi all!

 I have FreeBSD 8.0 with bacula 3.0.2 as a backup server. The only thing
 which works so far is the webmin module. That's fine and useful but the
 reporting is a bit too simple.

 Thus I tried bweb and bacula-web and had a look at webacula.

 I got bacula-gui-5.0.3 and did what the README told me.
 bweb wants a bunch of perl modules. I installed them via the CPAN
 shell.
 But all I get is this:

 Error:  Can't locate GD/Graph.pm in @INC (@INC
 contains: /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.8.9/BSDPAN

 Next I set up apache2.2 and php5 in order to run bacula-web. After a
 while it turned out that php4 is needed ;-( So I removed php5 and
 installed php4. Everything via ports collection, except apache which
 comes from sysinstall.
 There is a test.php. It runs and shows me that all prerequisites are
 OK. Still the index.php does not. FF always offers to make a download
 of that file. apache modules are there, php.ini looks good,
 bacula-web.conf as well.
 info.php shows:

 PHP Version 4.4.9
 Apache/2.2.16 (FreeBSD) mod_ssl/2.2.16 OpenSSL/0.9.8k DAV/2 PHP/4.4.9
 with Suhosin-Patch
 and so on. Looks sane.

 I read the doc of webacula. php5 is needed and it seems to be more for
 actually doing backups and restores rather than reporting. So I didn't
 try it yet.

 Any suggestions are appreciated! Maybe there is a tool I am not aware of
 which suits my needs? bweb looks most promising though. Has anybody got
 it running on FreeBSD?

 Thanx,

 Oliver

 I have just upgraded from Bacula 2.4.4 to 5.2.1 and so far everything is
 working well except Bweb. After getting Bacula upgraded and running I
 compiled Bweb and then worked through the install instruction for an
 upgrade and, when that failed, I used the install instructions. I've been
 over the instruction several times but I can't see anything obvious. When I
 try to access bweb from my browser I get a 500 error. When I check the
 apache log file I see this error for every connect attempt...

 [error] [client xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] malformed header from script. Bad

 Bacula-web works fine but doesn't give as much info as the bacula-web from
 2.4.4 and bweb from my previous bacula version (2.4.4) worked well. Can
 anyone help me figure out what I've done wrong here?

Re: [Bacula-users] Bacula-Web 5.2.10 is out

2012-08-10 Thread Bacula-Dev
Hello Uwe,

yes it is ! The development of Bacula-Web has been revived since November
2010.

If you want to keep informed about project news and information, you can

   - subscribe to the newsletter trough
   http://bacula-web.org/newsletter.html
   - or trough the RSS feed http://bacula-web.org/bacula-web-news.xml

That's something which can be really interesting to implement in this tool.
If you want to give more details in how to group clients and describe maybe
a little bit more this new feature,
you can create an account in the bug tracker http://bacula-web.org/bugs

Thanks for your feedback.

 Hey Davide,

 thanks for the heads-up, I wasn't even aware bacula web was still
 being developed. I'll take a look at the new version shortly. It would
 be great if you could implement some form of client group support so
 one could easily determine the total backup space used by a group of
 clients, for instance.

 All the best keep up the good work,

 Uwe

Hi,

what you think about the posibility to put a option to select/change a
diferente database/director in the bacula-web interface ??
I have, many instances of bacula server installed in different
places/clients and I thinks that install web-server + bacula-web in
all they is a lost of time and now I have configured a different
virtual host to host in apache each of it with a bacula-web for any of
this clients.

but, maybe a simples combobox in the bacula-web interface is more easy
to manage more that one server.
It's actualy the case. If you've define more than one catalog in
config.php, you'll be able to switch between different Bacula catalog
using the drop down list (top right of the header).

that is my idea.

thanks for your excelent work.

bye

Victor,
  A quick grep shows that the config.php is called only once through
the core/global.inc.php.

  You could do a work around by adding a simple statement in this
file, examle:

Original:
// Configuration
define('CONFIG_DIR', BW_ROOT . /application/config/);
define('CONFIG_FILE', CONFIG_DIR . config.php);

New Version:
// Configuration
define('CONFIG_DIR', BW_ROOT . /application/config/);
switch ( $_REQUEST['dbconfig'] ) {
 case MyOtherDB1:
   define('CONFIG_FILE', CONFIG_DIR . MyOtherDB1Config.php);
  break;
 case MyOtherDB2:
   define('CONFIG_FILE', CONFIG_DIR . MyOtherDB2Config.php);
  break;
 default:
   define('CONFIG_FILE', CONFIG_DIR . config.php);
  break;
}

Now copy the configuration file to create the two new named files,
adjust their configuration for each database.

To Access the default Database, go to your URL
http://www.example.com/bacula-web.

To Access the the others use
http://www.example.com/bacula-web/?dbconfig=MyOtherDB1Config.php
http://www.example.com/bacula-web/?dbconfig=MyOtherDB2Config.php

You could simply either save some favorites or make another webpage to
call the different options. Even a container page that has the form
at top and target an iframe to load the content.

I haven't tested this, it just an idea to save you multiple installs.
Bacula-Web internal code and user interface will have a lot of
improvement within next few weeks/months.

One of the new feature will be to be able to define a default catalog.

[Bacula-users] Bacula-Web 7.0.0 released

2014-11-19 Thread bacula-dev
Dear all,

After several month of development, I'm happy to inform you that Bacula-Web
version 7.0.0 is available from now.

This major feature release include several bug fixes and new features which
will surely interest you.

The features added in this version are

A completly reworked web UI interface
I started to work with Twitter Bootstrap, jQuery and Font Awesome to make the
web interface more responsive and stop spending hours trying to fix CSS
compability issues between different browsers.
This transition has also helped me to gain time for the development of the
interface.
But this is only the first step and even if some display bug are present, I
will do the necessary to solve them quickly.

Dashboard: Stored Files widget
A new widget Stored Files have been added to the new dashboard

Bacula director timezone (date/time)
From this version the date and time are not taken from web server were
Bacula-Web is running. But from the Bacula director server.

All details about this new release are available on the news section of the web
site
http://www.bacula-web.org/news.html

Thanks again to all the people who contributed to this release by creating bug
reports, feature requests, translation update, etc it would not have been
possible without your help guys ;)

As usual, any questions or remarks are more than welcome

Best regards
