[Bacula-users] concurrent job / compression

2009-03-20 Thread Olivier Delestre
Hello,

I ask myself:

Is it possible to make the backup work by activating the concurrent
job and compression (gzip) only on certain client?
The combination of a score pad and a client might not compress does not
manage problems in the restoration?

Thanks.

returned non-zero status=255. ERR=Unknown error during program execvp

In command line with ssh-tunnel start client_fqdn the tunnel is workink.
echo $? egal 0

In my script ssh-tunnel :

USER=bacula
CLIENT=$2
LOCAL=serveur_fqdn
SSH=/usr/bin/ssh
# Cle Prive - private key
PK=/usr/lib64/bacula/scripts/bacula_tunnel
etc..

and in the director :

2009-04-17 Thread Olivier Delestre
Hello,

A bug in bacula or misuse, I do not know.
Let me explain.

I have a folder 1 that is saved. I have a folder 2 that is not.
The directories are on the same partition.

Execution of a total folder 1 saved in whole
Moving a file to the folder 2 to folder 1.
Execution of an incremental, folder 1 is saved without the moving file
which is in the folder 1.

Bacula uses the ctime, mtime only?
Is it not a problem of bacula or a misuse or (option)?
I do not know if this comment v3.0.0 rule. And this is only valid for
Windows clients ... easy to reproduce and if you have an explain ?

Thanks

My server is CentOS in Bacula 2.4.4

If you know, I'm interested in the syntax without emptying the base

[Bacula-users] Which index to the mysql database?

2009-09-28 Thread Olivier Delestre
Hello,

Here is my Pb when I restored (rest - choice 5), building tree is
15 minutes to build.

How do I know what is the SQL generated?

and / or

What indexes should it position?

I was bacula 2.4.4 but in recent days 3.0.2. The only upgrade_mysql_table
not what to put as indexes.

was the creation from scratch, the indexes are different if one starts with a
old version.

Zero: File table = FileId, JobId, JobId+PathId+FilenameId (Which was
generated in keyname JobId_2)

Since v2.4.4 - 3.0.2: File table = FileId, JobId+PathId+FilenameId

Besides the official documentation (
http://bacula.org/3.0.x-manuals/en/catalog/catalog/Catalog_Maintenance.html),
he speaks
CREATE INDEX file_jpf_idx on File (JobId, FilenameId, PathId);

column order is reversed between FilenameId and PathId is it important

Thank you for your help

Best regards
Olivier

[Bacula-users] Bacula 5.2.5 - Postgresql 9.1 - libpq.a - dir inserting attributes ??

2012-11-29 Thread Olivier Delestre

Hi,

I upgrade bacula 5.0.3 ( psql 8.4 ) to 5.2.5 ( psql 9.1 ) on ubuntu
12.04.1 LTS.

I asked about :

1) The documentation of bacula that saying :

If you configure the Batch Insert code in Bacula (attribute inserts are
10 times faster), you*must* be using a PostgreSQL that was built with
the*|--|enable-thread-safety* option, otherwise you will get
*data corruption*. Most major Linux distros have thread safety turned on, but
it is better to check. One way is to see if the PostgreSQL library that
Bacula will be linked against references pthreads. This can be done
with a command such as:
nm /usr/lib/libpq.a | grep pthread_mutex_lock

But, no such file. What is its usefulness ?
i found it by installing postgresql-server-dev-9.1. Not installed from scratch
install or upgrade...

I think the package bacula 5.2.5 is compiled with enable-batch-insert and
postgresql 5.2.5 with enable-thread-safety ( obtain source package with apt-get
source xxx )

2) else since the update, i have a client with a state of dir inserting
attribute for 3 hours :(
This Client have 1,8 To and 16 Millions of files. An idea if something change
since ??

No grant privileges on Tables restoreobject* , like this urls say (
http://www.mail-archive.com/bacula-users@lists.sourceforge.net/msg51149.html )

everything works well apart this status DIR inserting attribute for one big
client and libpq.a not installed. I'm a little worried.

Thank for any information.

None of these Old Clients have never run a backup before on bacula; they were

rid of them to ease the confusion.

Also I Removed/Purged some Volumes from bacula but when i go to Bconsole and

volume delete and remove (rm -rf) the file from the server. These volumes
still show up with no info attached to them.

How can i remove these stale (Old) Client/Volume info from Bacula?

You can try to use dbcheck :

sudo /usr/sbin/dbcheck -C MyCatalog -d 5 /var/lib/bacula bacula postgres

and you have a menu to toggle to modify ( 1 ) and make all check ( 13 )

AFAIK it is something along

   select ClientId, Name from Client order by ClientId ;
   delete from Client where Name = 'your_no_longer_existing_client' ;

Yes, those are database actions.
They can be performed from `bconsole` with the command `sqlquery`.

I actually copied the password from the config file, and pasted it into
the command prompt for the password when connecting to mysql.
Your config file seems ok to me except that you have omitted the
 first line of the config file which probably looks like Director {

If you are sure that you can manually connect to the mysql using
the same connection data and the same environment (e.g. the same user
used for running bacula-dir daemon) and you are sure that there is
no some kind of restriction or security in place (e.g. selinux)
than in my opinion it could only be setup of the bacula database
 in the mysql.

Have you performed a major bacula upgrade recently or some kind
 of database restore?

You have mentioned the unfortunate incident.
If you had to recreate the bacula database make sure that you
(or your puppet configuration) perform commands used for
creation of the bacula database and setting appropriate
 privileges.

 That would be:
 create_mysql_database
 make_mysql_tables
 grant_mysql_privileges

And my bacula is 7.0.5

i place my script for an exemple, :

[Bacula-users] Bacula 7.0.5 / Multiple Jobs for same Windows Client with Vss ?

2015-04-22 Thread Olivier Delestre

Hi,

I have a client with multiple drive ( e: , f: , g:, h: ).
I Split into 4 jobs with 4 Fileset, with 4 pools. It's a big Client ( 10
To ) with Millions of files.

All works fine.

The Windows is bacula-enterprise-win64-7.0.5.

But if i enable Vss, i have a system call Fail for the 3 others.

I read somewhere, here
http://osdir.lowified.com/bacula/2012-10/msg00301.html, it's not
possible. It's a 2012 post ...

Can you confirm this ? and how to configure a better way ?.

Thanks.

[Bacula-users] Logs bacula-sd under bacula 7.0.5 ?

2015-04-09 Thread Olivier Delestre
Hi,

Since installation Bacula 7.0.5 / CentOs 7 / postgresql, i have a lot of
message in logs :

Apr 9 04:49:24 x bacula-sd: x-sd: block.c:304-82272 Incorrect
EndBlock/EndFile oldEndBlock=-35393 newEndBlock=29119 oldEndFile=9
newEndFile=10

It's alarming. I've never had this type of message under bacula 5.2.5 /
Ubuntu 12 / postgresql :(

i make restore, everything seems ok.

Do you have the same messages ?

Thanks

Re: [Bacula-users] Problem with schedule week of month ( wom )

2017-04-25 Thread Olivier Delestre

I understand better now;)

That is why I can have a lag of 7 days.

The first week starts at 0 (wom) and for Monday until Sunday 1-> 7

Example: month April 2017, Saturday 1 April and Sunday 2 April are in
week 0 as well as Monday -> Friday.

So Friday 7 is the second Friday for bacula.

Thank you for putting me back on track
If I understood correctly :)

Le 24/04/2017 à 18:41, Kern Sibbald a écrit :

Yes, in English the 3rd Friday of April is 21 April, but what you are
telling Bacula (remember it is a computer so its language is a bit
different/simpler) is: run the VirtualFull on Friday of the 3rd week.

I got tired of trying to figure out the schedules using the show
schedule command, so I wrote the "status scheduled" command, which
does most of the work for you. It has a few options such as days=nnn
limit=nnn time=xxx job=xxx ...

If I remember right, the time option allows you to move around in time
so if you want to see something a year later you don't need to print
zillions of lines of output.

Best regards,

Kern

Hello,

The MySQL dependency problem on bacula-postgresql rpm package has been
fixed now.

rpm binary packages for rhel7-64 (compatible with Centos 7) are now
available in Bacula repository.

The package name is bacula-postgresql-9.0.8-2.el7

More rpm based distro packages will be uploaded within the next few days.

You might need to update your local repo by running this command

 $ sudo yum check-update

Please note also that the baseurl for rhel7 repository should be as below

baseurl=http://www.bacula.org/packages/x/rpms/9.0.8/el7/x86_64
<http://www.bacula.org/packages/x/rpms/9.0.8/el7/x86_64>

The manual should be fixed accordingly.

Hope it helps

Bacula 9 be run inline with the Bacula 7 version? Or is the best
solution to just configure another server for the Bacula 9
installation and port over the client configs and databases? Any input
to this upgrade path would be greatly appreciated.

  Thanks, Ted

The second Pool is listed as NextPool for my primary Pool (and the

I created a special job for testing the VirtualFull (so I don’t have

The job gets created with a status of ‘C’ and just sits there.

There are no messages.

What could be wrong? Why is my job not starting?

[Bacula-users] Bacula 9.0.8 with Aligned-sd

2018-07-06 Thread Olivier Delestre

Hi,

For my test i installed a bacula 9.0.8 / Postgresql / Zfs on Ubuntu 18 Lts

I configured the File for the Storage with Plugin Directory =
"/opt/bacula/plugins" on the server

And the value for the Device Type = Aligned, ...

I just a question, my client are on version 7.4.7 for the production
server (still on 7.4.7) , The dedup works with this version ?  or do I
have to upgrade version the client too ?

Server Production 7.4.7 <--> Client 7.4.7
Server Test 9.0.8 <--> Client 7.4.7, the same as above

That's run for the moment ( 9 To ) but with the mechanism of dedup (??? ).

Thanks

Re: [Bacula-users] Incrementals use 170GB on-disk volume storage, but only 60GB when restored

2018-07-06 Thread Olivier Delestre

Thanks for your experience.

I install a 3th server yesterday with repo of bacula 9.0.8 + Postgresql
on Ubuntu 18 Lts ( Not CentOs have pb of rpm at start. Yet ?? ). With a
Pool Zfs ( comp =lz4 , dedup on )

I will test during the holidays with client ( 7.4.7 ). The other server
is production on Bacula 7.4.7.

Do you use the Aligned plugin for the SD ?
I do not know about your mystery

Dear bacula list,

I'm having a weird problem with incremental backups of one of our machines.

We do an online (to disk backup) compressed incremental backup into
single volumes (one volume per incremental job, 10 volumes recycled
automatically) and everything appears to work fine.

However, the on-disk usage of the volume is a whopping 170GB, but when
I do a complete restore of this incremental job the restored directory
occupies only around 60GB of diskspace.

Here's a bacula web statistic from one of the incremental jobs:

460031 Incr 1920 170.45 GB 2018-06-14 16:52:11 2018-06-14 18:52:32
02:00:21 24.17 MB/s 0.05

And here's the "du -sh" report on the fully restored incemental ("mark
*" in "/") job listed above:

bacula_restore]# du -sh .
96G .

We don't get any error messages during restore except for two tomcat
logfiles which changed in size during the backup, but those are only a
few hundred MB and don't account for the huge difference in disk space
usage we're experiencing here.

Also, the restore logs shows some messages in the form of

"file has been deleted",

but those are also mostly files that are nowhere near large enough to
explain the discrepancy in size. We've also tried removing the
"accurate" flag from the job in question and reloading the config, but
that hasn't solved the problem, either.

We've been running bacula for over a decade now on six backup server
instances with hundreds of clients and a few dozen TB of archive
space, so I'd not consider myself a bacula newbie in the sense of the
word, but this one has me puzzled... any advice would be greatly
appreciated.

Server version: 9.0.6 compiled from source on centos6
Catalog DB: MariaDB 10.x
Client fd version: bacula-client-5.0.0-13.el6.x86_64
bacula-common-5.0.0-13.el6.x86_64

Thanks very much in advance for any ideas on the matter & all the best,

Uwe

Re: [Bacula-users] Bacula-Web 8.0.0-rc3 released

2018-03-20 Thread Olivier Delestre

Hi,

I installed successfully this version but , a few remarks.

My Os : CentOs 7.4 - Bacula-web 7.4.0
For this install,  i make an "upgrade" Php 5.4 -> Php 7.1

I follow the install instruction "From archive" ( as usual ). But not
working, perhaps i forgot to install "sqlite.x86_64"

[php7:warn] [pid 3374] [client xxx]
PHP Warning:  require_once(vendor/autoload.php): failed to open stream:
No such file or directory in
/var/www/html/bacula-web.8.0.0/core/global.inc.php on line 19

[php7:error] [pid 3374] [client xxx]
PHP Fatal error:  require_once(): Failed opening required
'vendor/autoload.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear:/usr/share/php')
in /var/www/html/bacula-web.8.0.0/core/global.inc.php on line 19

so i use the second method "Using Composer" And that works, now.

Perhaps, to put in documentation page "From archive", a Big Warning for
sqlite or only the composer method works.

I don't know but thanks for your works.

I have an install of v9/Mysql on Debian Stretch that was done
from source. What is the process to reinstall to the latest
from the Stretch repo with Mysql?

Does the v9 source install need cleaning out in some way?

There are also remnants of an earlier v5 installed from the
Wheezy repo prior the the OS upgrade to Stretch. I did do an
apt-get remove but found this deleted my configs also.
Fortunately I had a copy saved elsewhere.

But this shouldn't be the case, as you mention that this

Then make sure you've cleanup your yum cache

P.S: beside of that, I don't see what could cause this

As I said, it works for me on a Centos 7 vm.

2019-01-22 Thread Olivier Delestre

below with the volume conty-2546 (612 bytes). for ex.

the behavior may seem normal because no data to save so we do not
display ( with query + 5 ).

In this case why referenced a volume (pool + Filesystem)

May be an error on my part, but I do not remember a similar behavior
before (v7).

I will do with it. Thanks for all

I don't think this is different in 7.4. Do you have an example volume with no
files that is listed by query 5?

As a workaround, you could have a cron job on the fd that touches a zero
length file every day to prevent a "no files" backup. You could probably also
do this in a ClientRunBeforeJob script.

[Bacula-users] bacula-enterprise-win64-7.4.4 <> bacula-win64-9.2.2 with bacula server upgrade 7.4.4 to 9.2.2

2018-12-11 Thread Olivier Delestre

Hi,

Recently, i upgrade my bacula server 7.4.7 to 9.2.2
Alls works fine.

Yesterday , i upgrade a windows client enterprise 7.4.4 to bacula 9.2.2.

But , i have a strange result. The incremental is too long . it's not
normal.

on a small volumetry, it does not show but it is several To ( The Full 7To )

can there be a difference in behavior between these two versions (
enterprise 7.4.4 and bacula-win64-9.2.2  )?

I return with the client 7.4.4 :(

Re: [Bacula-users] Problem with volume are not present when the tape is empty on incremental

2019-01-11 Thread Olivier Delestre

Hi,
Thanks for the answer.

i have a pool for a client.
And i have a script python for purge+delete volume before the Full
backup. ( for optimize the disk space on retention , script -> Full ,
Incr, Incr ../.. , script -> Full , incr, incr ...)

This script utilize the modify query 3 + 4 ( see below ) and with the
result i purge and delete the volume on FS.

And if the empty volume are not in list , there are not purge + deleted
. normal ;)

I'm watching all this. this has worked for many years.
some other things seem strange since the update in 9.2.2. I lead my
research and keep you informed.

hi,

i use bacula v9.2.2 and storage on disk.
i notice that when an incremantal is empty, bacula make a tape
with a file ( 612 bytes ).
when you list with the query "5: List all backups for a Client" ,
this volume is not present.

This is absolutely fine. Bacula will create a volume for your job as
it has to have a place to save your backup. Then it start to search
for data to save - the "empty" volume is already created. When Bacula
cannot find any data to save - the "incremental is empty" then the
volume remains empty for this job. As the volume does not contain any
data from this particular job - do you remember your "incremental is
empty" then it cannot be listed as a resource for this job.

In Bacula the single volume can have a multiple jobs saved and the
single job can span a multiple volumes.

but present in the pool and the file system.
see below on the vol conty-2546

Well, you configured your job and especially your pool to close volume
as soon as it is created by a single job, so the operations you
observe are performed on your request. If this is not what you expect
then you should change your configuration accordingly.

note : the query is issue from sample-query.sql

How to have this volume in my list ?

Why?

A Bug or not ??

Why do you think it is a bug?

Thanks

I think if i make a full backup, that desappear but the volume is big. i

Accurate mode = yes , it's mandatory for the Virtual full.

[Bacula-users] Bacula 9.2.2 and bsnapshot

2019-02-11 Thread Olivier Delestre

Hi,

I would like to test the functions that bsnapshot could bring.

i have a server with bacula-postgresql in 9.2.2 and a client with the
same version of bacula with zfs raidz1 ( on a VM for the test ).

i have 2 questions :

1 -  where is the binary of bsnapshot when you install only
bacula-client.x86_64 ?
So i install the complete package bacula-postgresql.x86_64 and disable
dir/sd.

2 -  when the job start , i see the snaphot on the client but it's
deleted a the end. it's refered in the Catalog.

In the Fileset i have "Enable Snapshot = yes" and in job i have
"Snapshot Retention 5 days".

on the other hand when I run the job manually the snapshot remains
client side. i don't understand.

2.5 -  ;)
Does the incremental relies on Zfs mechanism to determine what there is
to save?

Thanks

same type of install from the rpm repo Bacula )

And i have the same error :

it's work before ( 9.0.8 ? ) but my material was not powerful enough (

is the plugin still available for this community version ??

11.0.6 is the current *stable* version of Bacula.

11.3.4 is the last beta version of the next major release 13.0.0.

9.6.7 is the previous stable version of Bacula.

Hello,

We are pleased to announce the new BETA release of the next major
Bacula
version 11.3.4 to both the Bacula website (www.bacula.org) and to
SourceForge.

Thanks for the valuable feedback.

https://www.bacula.org/downloads/Beta-Bacula-11.3.4

This is the last beta version of the new 13.0 major release with
many new
features and a number of changes. Please take care to test this code
carefully
before putting it into production.  Although the new features have
been tested,

they have not run in a production environment.

We had a service outage this week and some of the bacula services
are still not
fully recovered (cdash, wiki, packages). It should be resolved next
week.

Compatibility:
--
As always, both the Director and Storage daemon(s) must be upgraded at
the same time. Any File daemon running on the same machine as a
Director

or Storage daemon must be of the same version.

Older File Daemons should be compatible with the 11.3 Director and
Storage

daemons.  There should be no need to upgrade older File Daemons.

New Catalog format in version 11.3.0 and greater

This release of Bacula uses a new catalog format.  We provide a set
of scripts
that permit conversion from 9.x and earlier versions to the new 11.3
format

(1025).  Normally the conversion/upgrade is fast.

Keep in mind that there is a big change from 9.x to 11.0 that takes
longer than
usual, the upgrade process will require about twice the disk space
of the

actual database.

If you start from scratch, you don't need to run the
update_bacula_tables
script because the create_bacula_tables script automatically creates
the new
table format.  However, if you are using a version of Bacula older
than 5.0.0
(e.g.  3.0.3) then you need to run the update_bacula_tables script
that will be
found in the /src/cats directory after you run the
./configure command.

As mentioned above, before running this script, please backup your
catalog
database, be sure to shutdown Bacula and be aware that running the
script can

take some time depending on your database size.

Thanks for using Bacula!

Best Regards,
Eric

11.3.4 is the last beta version of the next major release 13.0.0.

9.6.7 is the previous stable version of Bacula.

Hope it helps!

Best Regards,
Eric

Thanks for work.

Please take care to test this
code carefully
before putting it into production.  Although the new features have
been tested,

they have not run in a production environment.

We had a service outage this week and some of the bacula services
are still not
fully recovered (cdash, wiki, packages). It should be resolved
next week.

Compatibility:
--
As always, both the Director and Storage daemon(s) must be
upgraded at
the same time.

We provide a
set of scripts
that permit conversion from 9.x and earlier versions to the new
11.3 format

(1025).  Normally the conversion/upgrade is fast.

Keep in mind that there is a big change from 9.x to 11.0 that
takes longer than
usual, the upgrade process will require about twice the disk space
of the

actual database.

If you start from scratch, you don't need to run the
update_bacula_tables
script because the create_bacula_tables script automatically
creates the new
table format.

Best Regards,
Eric

Hi,

The bacula.org/git is alive :)

Thanks.

For the Repo https://bacula.org/packages/5 , it's work but
you must regen the key with :

https://www.bacula.org/bacula-binary-package-download/

Question : with a test Vm and the old repo , i run with bacula 11.0.6
but with the new repo the last version is 11.0.2 , an error ? an
incompatibility ? with OS: CentOS Linux release 7.9

I install on my production environnement later.

Bye

You can clone the repository from

The previous URL should work, but apparently not. Packages will be

in the next days.
