[Bacula-users] ftp backup
Hi, has anyone scripts to enable ftp based backup? i.e. write to local file, put on ftp server, delete (and get from ftp server, read from local file)? or any hints how to implement something like that? [Bacula-users] retention for each job?
Hi, retention times are client specific, as far as I can see. however I have a client with two filesets and two backup jobs. the first runs nightly and needs to be kept for a month only, the other one runs monthly, but needs to be kept for months. can I somehow set the retention time for each job? so far I get errors (1.36.2/debian) and can set the retention time only for the client in the config file. maybe any tricks or workarounds? guess I can configure the longer retention time, and then use sql to find the jobs which can be expired early and use some console command to forefully purge those jobs and files so the tape can be recycled. would that work? is there a better way? The correct way to do this, certainly, is to use two divverent Pools with retention set differently for each Pool. Hi Phil, thanks for the idea. unfortunatly I'm not using serveral pools at the moment. Is there still a way to set retention times per Job? or maybe is it possible to set it within a schedule? [Bacula-users] which verify level for tape checks?
Hi, I only want bacula to read each tape to make sure the tape is ok. I don't need the tripwire style checks. which verify level will do this? with each backup checksums are written to the catalog (signature=MD5 flag on the Include line in the fileset). so I hope bacula can read the tape and check the md5 is still the same - using the catalog data, not the data on the server (which will have changed in the meantime for all open files, like log files etc.). I checked the bacula documentation http://www.bacula.org/rel-manual/Configuring_Director.html and I guess VolumeToCatalog is what I want. but in that case bacula will only compare the attributes on the tape to the catalog? i.e. it will not check if the file data on the tape results in the same md5 that is stored in the attribute data (both on tape and in the catalog)? Also I don't understand why this option changes the catalog. could someone help me and explain the situation? I'm a bit puzzled. Thanks for your help. [Bacula-users] media list?
Hi, is there a way to get this information: - what are the next five tapes bacula will use in pool xyz? - list media, but sorted (e.g. by last written date) I know these ways, but they aren't easy: - list media, cutpaste, manualy sort in my editor, the five oldest tapes are those that will be reused next? - sql and use sql commands to get the media list by age. it would be nice to have an easier way.
