Re: [Bacula-users] Exchange Plugin Restore

2011-08-18 Thread Duncan McQueen
I'll have to read up on restoring the catalogs, unfortunately. I tried
restoring the Catalog from around the time of the job (the next JobID) and it
didn't seem to work.

Any thoughts on this error, though:

JobId 598: Fatal error: DatabaseBackupInfo file must exist and must be first in
directory

That seems to be where the restore is hanging up. Can I just create that file?

Is it possible to restore a catalog that contains that fileset? Maybe
there is a bug with restoring plugin data without a full copy of the
catalog.

James,

Are there any trips or techniques on restoring using the Exchange plugin? I
assume that one issue could be this is a new clean server we are restoring to,
and the plugin might be erroring out. Should I do a debug trace (and what is
the best way to do that keeping the service running as a Local system account)?

 I think I read that the Exchange plugin just doesn't work - perhaps
that is
 the issue. The files are there but error out. In addition, I
noticed the
 @EXCHANGE directory being created off the root C:\. I assume what
should be
 created is something within the exchange store, so something
fundamentally
 must be broken.

It does sound like something is wrong. There is a bug somewhere, in the
SD I think, that causes the logfiles not to restore correctly on an
incremental restore. It can be worked around but is somewhat painful.
For a full backup and restore I've never had a problem.

Can you describe the situation you are trying to restore from? Did a
server fail or are you just testing.

[Bacula-users] Run out of disk space

I set my retention periods too long and now have run out of disk space.
If I want to start over (after I have edited the conf files for a good

Just delete the files or do I need to do something in the database?

Thanks,

You would need to delete each volume in the database. I would just
change the retention period on the pool and then use bconsole to apply
that to the existing volumes.

I think the commands are

update Pool from resource

then

update  all volumes in pool

or similar.

Is it because your database files are on the same disk that has filled up?

If so and it were me, I would truncate a volume that I knew that I didn't want,
restart the database and try again.

Regarding the Exchange Backup - it appears to work (I can't see an
issue), but I haven't tried a test restore yet. Is there more
information about how it isn't working?

[Bacula-users] Quick Question on Windows 2003 backup to Debian Director

2011-01-14 Thread Duncan McQueen
We are backing up a Windows 2003 Small Business Server using Bacula
(5.0.2) with the Director and FD on a Debian Server. It is an
incremental backup. However, we have quite a few older files that just
keep on getting backed up although nothing is touching or changing those
files.

This is how I define the FileSet:

FileSet {

Name = Windows Server

Enable VSS = yes

Include {

Options {

 compression = GZIP

}

File = C:/Apps

File = C:/Users

File = C:/System State Backup

Plugin = exchange:/@EXCHANGE/Microsoft Information Store

}

}

Any suggestions to changes to try and eliminate the duplicate backups?
