[Bacula-users] change tape status while backups are running

2010-06-02 Thread Jesse Angell
If I have multiple backups running to the same virtual disk based tape and then
set that tape status to full will it simply move on to the next tape without
damaging the backups in progress or existing data?

Is there some way I can force it to move onto the next tape mid-backup?

My guess is it will ignore you setting it to full for some time and
keep writing to the volume.

Agree - I can't figure it out.

I found a similar bug:
http://bugs.bacula.org/view.php?id=1578

I commented my issue in it.

If I cancel all the backups and then start several (including one

large backup is running for about 30 minutes - you can no longer get
any other job to run with it (is waiting on storage file).

Almost seems like once it runs for awhile, perhaps once it rotates
to a new tape, it blocks everything else... Odd

That's very curious behavior. At the moment, I couldn't make a guess as
to what's causing it.

[Bacula-users] Bacula 5.0.2 and is waiting on storage file

2010-05-25 Thread Jesse Angell
I recently upgraded from Bacula 3.0.3 to 5.0.2. All of my backups go directly
to disk. Quite often when multiple concurrent jobs try to run they'll stick on
is waiting for storage file. This never happened on 3.0.3. Any ideas?

First of all, check that all your Maximum Concurrent Jobs settings are
correct in ALL applicable resources, in both the bacula-sd.conf and
bacula-dir.conf files.

Also check that you haven't set the Use Volume Once preference (which
is usually a mistake made due to misunderstanding what it does).
