Re: [Bacula-users] HP 1/8 G2 Autoloader

2024-05-07 Thread Neil Balchin
I don’t think it’s a bacula problem, looks like a hardware failure from the
auto loader

Code 70 = “release magazine failure”

[Bacula-users] Dell TL2000 Tape Library with HHLTO7 drive

2024-05-04 Thread Neil Balchin
Everything is working but on every tape job I get this error:

bacularis-sd JobId 5: Warning: Alert: Volume="LR7782L7" alert=25: ERR=A
redundant interface port on the tape drive has failed. Failure of one interface
port in a dual-port configuration, e.g. Fibrechannel.
Any Ideas on how to get rid of it ? Backups appear to be working just fine
I’ve tested restore jobs several times

When trying to configure the auto changer in the API panel, I click. Checkbox
on get sudo configuration and when I test I get this error in red:

   /usr/local/share/bacula/mtx-changer: mtx: not found
/usr/local/share/bacula/mtx-changer: perl: not found

Both mtx and perl are installed in the system , perhaps there’s a path issue
in the MTX changer script ?

Re: [Bacula-users] Install.sh error trying to install manually Bacularis

2024-04-09 Thread Neil Balchin
Ok Great, that solves that problem

I’m almost there

I’m using a Dell TL2000 Tape library and a HH LTO7 drive

I’ve added these to my bacula-sd ( configs pasted below). Also added the
Autochanger and Drives to the API device list

From the API gui. It’s clearly running the slots and status commands properly.
Because it shows the 19 tapes with barcodes , however when I try to label
these tapes from the volumes page it reports Zero slots

Autochanger {
  Name = "TL2000"
  Device = "HH-LTO7"
  ChangerDevice = "/dev/pass1"
  ChangerCommand = "/etc/bacula/scripts/mtx-changer %c %o %S %a %d"
}

Device {
  Name = "HH-LTO7"
  MediaType = "LTO-7"
  ArchiveDevice = "/dev/sa0"
  HardwareEndOfMedium = no
  BackwardSpaceRecord = no
  BsfAtEom = yes
  TwoEof = yes
  FastForwardSpaceFile = yes
  RemovableMedia = yes
  RandomAccess = no
  AutomaticMount = yes
  AlwaysOpen = yes
  Autochanger = yes
  ControlDevice = "/dev/pass1"
  AlertCommand = "/usr/local/share/bacula/tapealert %l"
}

I can run mt and mtx commands freely from the command line as both the bacula
user and www user so I think my /dev/ permissions are ok

I’ve installed Bacula in a Freebsd Jail and all is well, Also installed
Apache24, and the requisite php mods to run bacularis.

I’ve followed the manual instructions to the letter but when I get to the
install.sh step I get this error output :

Re: [Bacula-users] 404 error Apt repository

I’m not surprised that using the IP would give you a certificate name mismatch,
 that would be expected behaviour for any website.

I did try changing the https to http and as expected the result is the same (if
there’s a server redirect setup to ssl then httt == https for all requests)

I’ve been down that road, yes bacula can certainly be configured to handle
that at least on a ’nix system. Before your get too far though, you should do
your own research on the reliability of spinning disk drives (internal or
external). They pale in comparison to Tape. I would include s.m.a.r.t. disk
checks as a regular part of my schedule and don’t expect to do this in an
archiving scenario, hard drives sitting on a shelf unpowered for in excess of
a year have frightening failure rates.

LTO tapes are meant to let for 30 yrs

[Bacula-users] Baculum Prado Errors

2021-12-10 Thread Neil Balchin
When I first visit my baculum webgui page I invariably get between 2 and 3 php
exception errors related to the pdo_postgres module.

Ignoring them makes them go away and the rest of the session works perfectly

Can anyone suggest a remedy,

Running
Bacula v9.6.7-3
baculum v9.6.6.3
Apache2 v2.4.46
Php v7.4

[Bacula-users] Bacula Restore Session

2021-11-29 Thread Neil Balchin
Recently, I had to reconfigure a large ZFS disk array. Prior to the
reconfiguration, It was shared to my bacula-fd instance across NFS and I was
doing daily incrementals, the pool was configured with a scratch pool of blank
tapes and I kept the backups without any pruning or recycling, veal more of an
archive than a backup.

After reconfiguring the disk system I ran a restore job and all my files went
back into place with permissions perfectly in tact.

3 days later the scheduled backup job started running and instead of
recognizing the existing files it ran the backup like a Full, never been backed
up before job.

I have to do this 4 more times on different disk arrays, how can I avoid
re-backing up all the files I’ve just restored ?
