resolved this.
I was seeing the working directory under bacula/working rather than having
/bacula/bin/working
i created this directory and it worked
still have a directory called bacula/working with lots of data in, dont know
why this is...but its working.

I ran the first of the debug commands
u...@mypc:~/bacula/bin$ sudo ./bacula-dir -d 200 -c bacula-dir.conf
and had this output:
bacula-dir: dird.c:184-0 Debug level = 200
bacula-dir: runscript.c:296-0 runscript: debug
bacula-dir: runscript.c:297-0 -- RunScript

Hello, I am trying to get bacula up and running. Did all the installs, ran
scripts for the mysql setup... all looked good.
But it seems that the daemons will not start
itmana...@vega:~/bacula/bin$ sudo ./bacula restart
Stopping the Bacula File daemon
Stopping the Bacula Storage daemon
Stopping
It should give you something in the bacula log file. Can you tell us
what it says there? Mine is usually in something like /opt/bacula/var/
bacula/working.

You can try run Bacula daemons with -d parameter. It runs Bacula daemons
with the debug mode.
