Use runbeforejob to ping the host.

something along the lines of  if `ping host -i10 -c3`  will do the job 
as long as the host isn't firewalling ICMP.

[Bacula-users] Conditional back-ups.

We take back-ups every night at 2 o'clock of a series of boxes of which some may
not be at the office at that time because they are out in the field (notebooks).

Is there a way to automatically skip the back-up job if there is no route to 
host? At the moment the failing back-up job is retried 6 times before it is 
ended. Therefore the resources are blocked for half an hour which which is 
highly undesirable.
