my dim recall of the oed has proselytising coming from how old greek
sheepherders "cuased to turn" etc a bunch of sheep,
and "teach " coming from how an old german or friesian or such would "show"
somebody how to or why to do something. i also recal a pilgm's note from a Hand
of Cause who happe
Yes, the dictionary isn't of much help when it comes to understanding
what the Guardian meant by not proselytizing.
