its resource consumption (and at that point I’ll
surely have lots of questions for the list), but for the moment I would
prefer to postpone such considerations, and focus on writing code I
understand.
Thanks!

fourth argument has no effect, since the document
is parsed by the doc() function, not the db:add function.
If you think it helpful, feel free to add these to the documentation
for db:add() or db:replace; it might help even readers like me
to understand what is going on.

and BaseX 8.3.1.
As always, my thanks to the BaseX team for the great tool, and to Andy
Bunce for the quick-start, without which I would certainly not have been
able to understand OpenShift well enough to get BaseX running.

to induce BaseX to write its logs there? The main advantage I can
currently see is that it then becomes possible to examine them with
the OpenShift rhc tools.
Any light anyone can shed on these issues would be very welcome.
Thanks!

could probably live with that. But sometimes it's convenient, so if
I can get by, relying on point 3, that would be excellent.

Is the WebDAV service really returning a 200, or are the logs

documentation mostly assumes that its readers
are Java programmers actively developing Java web apps, I
for one found it unhelpful when trying to solve my problem.

An unexpected phenomenon has arisen in the XQuery course I'm
teaching today and tomorrow; I wonder if anyone on this list can
shed any light on it.
To reproduce:
1 build a database containing the document
http://blackmesatech.com/2012/06/data/sonnet92.xml
2 evaluate the following expressions
did something wrong when
adding the new document to the database).
If there is any information I can provide that would be helpful,
please let me know.
