Hi Daiane, I don't work with the BaseX debian distribution by myself, but I guess you can simply unzip all files as root user. Have you tried this already? Alternatively, simply try with the ZIP version of BaseX [1,2] and check out our Wiki on how to get started [3]. I have slightly edited the
