We're currently working on another maintenance update to BBEdit
12 to address a few recently reported issues.
Note that this is a _pre-release_ version. The intent is to fix
bugs and address areas of improvement based on what our
customers have reported. However, since
I will try it that way. What I posted was straight from the docs. I am
doing it the autocomplete way but will try the menu as well. Just in case I
need to put in a bug for the docs.

Clippings could help simulate the mentioned PyCharm feature. Create a
clipping (check the manual if you don’t know about them).

Whenever you invoke the clipping with the „Insert Clipping“ function or via
an assigned keyboard shortcut it will insert
I think the "placeholder" text has to be outside of the hash marks,
thusly: #SELECTIONORPLACEHOLDER#Hello
Also, you are invoking this from the Clipboard menu, and not from
autocomplete, right?
