Re: Text-files disappear again!

At least some version of the Dropbox service have a recovery feature that
lets you undelete recently deleted files. I hope yours does!

The "Deleted Files" link at Dropbox.com for my version is on the Files page.

Wrong list?

The whole original discussion began as I praised BBEdit's Backup, that's
why I posted this sequel :-) - but yes, you're actually right.

Sorry!

Text-files disappear again!

2018-04-12 Thread Vlad Ghitulescu

Hello!

Today I discovered by chance that over 400 text-files of my
notes-Dropbox-folder were gone.

I had this before (as mentioned in [this thread][1] first and then again
[in this one][2] in BBEdit Talk), so I started analyzing what's
happened.

They were all deleted today.

The only thing I did today was to write a new file in this folder with
the iOS app "*Taskmator*" using my iPhone. The file was there. Over 400
other not anymore.

The notes-folder contains text-files (TXT, MD, TASKPAPER) and is shared
only between my iMac and my iPhone.

Fortunately enough I've learned a couple of lessons last time, so I had
a couple of recovery mechanisms in place:

- my text-notes now live on my Mac a folder named TXT
- once in a while I synch manually this TXT-folder to the notes-folder
in Drobpox using the DeltaWalker app for file- and folder-comparation (I
still want to look at ChronSynch for this…)

- I have a Git-repository for the TXT-folder…
- … and another one for the notes-folder in Dropbox (there I
discovered that the files were missing). After copying the new file I've
created with the iPhone on my iMac I've discarded the local changes in
Tower and everything was fine again.

I don't know for sure, but I suspect Dropbox (and not Taskmator) to be
the culprit.

What do you think?

Regards,
Vlad
