Seems to work fine for me w/ latest wireless-dev built w/ mostly-stock
(had to change BCM43XX-MAC80211 to B43) F-7 kernel config on T41 w/ F-7.
Don't even have the %X patch.

After posting on LKML, I got the answer - it is a peculiarity of openSUSE 10.2. 
The %X patch is 
needed if you have a BCM4311, which has an 802.11 core with revision level 10. 
My systems are now 
working.

It does NOT load for me on ubuntu feisty (uptodate).

uname -a: 
Linux richie-laptop 2.6.23-rc3-wlgit-1 #1 SMP Thu Aug 16 18:26:42 CEST 2007 
x86_64 GNU/Linux

ssb is loaded though..
