Chris,
the last 5 or 6 days there have been "punk hair" spikes pointing to the pole mainly at 00 and 6 UT.

Maybe the boys in Alaska
I have only been following it from the point of view of US weather maps and
by no means daily. Seems to be that in the last several years it has had
some severe dips way to the South. What do you mean by spikes? (not having
looked at these type of polar maps before) (Mr) Chris

going on.
