We've been getting torrential rains here in central Texas. Though
everything is still green and growing, we have water standing in
every available low spot. I was amazed that even tho we've had a
couple of frosts, my roses have been blooming late December. One
white rose has always had small flowers on it, though it was
promised to be a prominent bloomer. After it's had so much rain,
the flowers are what they were promoted to be.
I was in the house last night, admiring my roses out the window,
(and maybe a bit too proud that _I_ was able to see blooming
flowers late December.)

About then, a norther hit with gusto, winds picked up from the NW
and two large roses broke off and went sailing in front of the door at
about 40mph! I went out with snips and cut the rest of them so I
can enjoy them awhile longer, but I was laughing at myself. The
fact that I have roses blooming this time of year had absolutely
nothing to do with me nor my care of them. The forces that brought
them to me were just as prepared to snatch them back away
again.
