So I am using putty to talk with the beaglebone. When I go into the uboot
directory, it doesn't display any of the files that it's should have. Can't
see the uEnv.txt file as well?
The beaglebone boots up but is it possible that I messed up the files
somehow and how can I fix it?

enable_uboot_cape_universal=1 ?
It doesn't work.
And I have set too:

For the BBGW, you don't need to do ^ that, as that "setup" is pretty
much the default.. You just want to disable eMMC, use the new U-Boot

As I said, you can connect it to and HDMI display with the same cable. It
will work.
DVI-D and HDMI are the same with the exception of audio support.
