[beagleboard] BBB running Ubuntu 13.10, DHCP client very slow

I'm running Ubuntu 13.10 on my BBB. It seems pretty stable with no major issues, but it takes quite a long time for the system to get its IP address from my local DHCP server, is this normal? One symptom is that ntpdate and other ntp daemons report errors in syslog:- Mar 19 22:01:33 beaglebone
