This question arose out of events following the sudden death of our 10 year
old English Springer Spaniel
I don't think that dogs typically grieve the way people do--they don't have
the logical thought processes to make the basic emotions so complicated, for
instance, no sense of "right" or "wrong" or "fair." However, they do know
