Hi Carole, I think Giardia and Blastomycosis (sp) can be carried by fowl. The latter disease is very serious. I would discourage this habit and if necessary keep her on leash. Anytime an older animal suddenly develops a passion for something not previously sought I'd be inclined to do a geriatric wellness test.
