Berner Walk
Hi Does anyone have information on the Ridgefield,Conn Berner walk for this fall? Thanks Joanne Carroll, NYC
WESTCHESTER BERNER WALK 2003
What a delight!! What a great, old fashioned Berner event! And the weather cooperated in an unbelievable way - holding off showers for the 2 hours we needed to enjoy the SPECTACULAR scenery overlooking the Hudson River.Talk about beginners luck!! We all need to send a big hug to Betsy Rich, owned by the handsome Gus, a newcomer to the Berner world but an old friend, (our kids went to school together). Betsy had the idea while we were walking Gus Belline one day at the Rockefeller Preserve and she posted it on the L, reposted it when a conflict arose, bought balloons, chocolate for a mini-raffle (we raised $64. for BARC, LOC and BHF) a table, umbrellas to keep the table dry dog biscuits. She also provided a charming husband, Jamie, and enthusiastic son, Alex, to host newcomers. We put out BMDCA Info sheets and cheese crackers. About 30 people and about a dozen Berners plus friends arrived to walk. How lovely to meet new people and put faces to the names I've read on the L.So relaxed, so pleasant, so non-competitive and non-political.Just friendly people who love their Berners enjoying each other's company and dogs. Betsy was a newbie who jumped in, volunteered and created a truly worthwhile Berner tradition.Thank you Betsy! Thanks also go to Hugh Hayes for taking great photos and posting them:http://www.hotdogfx.com/west_done/walk.html Please join us next Spring - we will certainly do this again and maybe get a sunny day so we can picnic and chat even longer.Luna's dad, Glen, said some of the weeping beech trees looked 200 years old - they were magnificent. Gratefully, Linda Seaver Belline Bedford, NY

RE: Westchester NY Berner Walk Rescheduled
Hi, Does anyone have any idea how long the walk will be, and over what kind of terrain. Would it be, for example, suitable in length and terrain, for a cart? sara steele

Note: forwarded message attached. __ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca ---BeginMessage--- Hello, Hope this goes across o.k. This is my 1st time writing on the Berner-L,after almost a year of reading and enjoying your e-mails. After being at the American specialty in West Virginia last year for my 1st time with my friend Wendy, I met a lot of very nice people from this list, and yes I was shopping until I dropped and having a blast doing it. I have a very good recipe for Liver treats that I guaranty all the dogs will love: 1 cup of corn meal 1 cup of flour 1 pound of liver 1 or 2 cloves of garlic optional 1 egg and 1/4 cup of parmesan cheese Put in food processor, blend well On a cookie sheet, spray some vegetable oil, spread one quarter inch thick like a pizza dough, bake 400 for 12-15 minutes or until firm to touch. Keep in freezer, once in the fridge only keep for about 4-5 days. Good luck the dogs love it Burner walk get together in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada We started 2 years ago at Bruce Pit, every Sunday at Noon, all winter long (Nov...April) The dogs walk off leash in this National Capital park Yes I'm the cookie lady along with my 2 1/2 year old Bernese mountain dog called Sierra and my 1 1/2 year old Golden retreiver Yukon. They have every week a 2 hour walk with all their other furry friends, 10-19 Berners each week. It's a blast to see them run in the wooded area one after this other. I do spoil them and love them with all my heart If you are close by, please try to join us for a walk. It's the best way to socialize with your 4-legged friends and 2-legged ones also. It makes the winter go by faster. Thank you again for all the importance of this Berner-list, I do appreciate reading and learning from you guys. With all that said, I'm starting showing my Sierra in the Spring. Hope to see some of you down the road. Berner Walk
Sorry Gang I had the wrong day. Kathleen emailed me, along with several others, that the walk is set for Saturday. Please accept my apologies. I wrote it on the calendar, long, long ago. :( Hope this didn't cause too much confusion. Barb __ Do you Yahoo!? HotJobs - Search new jobs daily now http://hotjobs.yahoo.com/
