mean that BF has taken the latest builds from the ftp server, BF is taking
it from here, and the builders are free to assume there wont be more
revision changes for 2.56?

I think you guys are doing an amazing job - but I'm wondering why this
building isn't
handled by an automated buildserver (maybe with some virtual machines
for each of the
targeted platforms)?
The entire process to get these versions out seems very error-prone with
long turn-around times...?
The time and ressources needed for building/maintaining such an
infrastructure is not worth the benefit.
Our current process is much more flexible and proved to work well. :)

Same as building from svn. These are mostly because most people dont
know how/dont have the time to build their own builds. This offers
the software to the enduser in the format they are most used to on
their respective systems.

I dont get any warnings with either of these files:
gcc version 4.5.2
warning flags:
