Upgraded Design + Theme Options for 3D Cursor I think would be an excellent step forward. This might also land in the realm of the Widget upgrade stuff. -Sean On Sat, Dec 14, 2013 at 11:56 AM, Antony Riakiotakis kal...@gmail.comwrote: I reverted the commit a few minutes ago. For sculpting I

@Jonathan - its not clear to me what you're proposing. (hiding in what context exactly?) In general, I don't think adding an extra option for this is a good idea, its been suggested before quite a few times (by users on blenderartists), But think this just adds an extra setting for the user to

Hi, Blender's viewport was designed to have this 3d cursor. It's a functional part of the design, used in many ways. It's not a user preference, and certainly not something we can make optional. Whether individuals like that design or not is really not relevant. What counts is how to make the

The reason everyone is asking for Show 3D Cursor option is because it is really distracting. It would be a great solution to add theme colors for RedWhite circle around 3D Cursor, or get rid of this circle at all, simple black cross-hair like in walk mode is enough. -- Regards, Mikhail

@Campbell, my point was that if we are to selectively hide the 3D cursor automatically then I think it would be better to simply have a user toggle for it. But personally I agree with Ton that it shouldn't be hidden at all. It's too integral to too many things. You can always enable Render Only

I reverted the commit a few minutes ago. For sculpting I have a few future use cases for the cursor in mind, such as posing tools. We'll see how this is integrated when the time comes. By the I would also love a nicer cursor design. It looks like a discarded life ring in a 3D sea.

I'm pulling down the updates now to test, but it's my initial thought that a switch to turn off the 3D cursor would be more ideal. This would help prevent people from inadvertently using the cursor, or trying to use the cursor and not understanding why it's not showing. Jonathan Williamson

Hi Antony devs, I commented on your commit to hide the 3D cursor in sculpt mode (has minor error), http://developer.blender.org/rB85eaa989807268dda60408f41475216ad45888d1 but not sure the cursor should be hidden at all. The view could be set to rotate around the 3D cursor, Also the grease

Hi Campbell, indeed this was slightly hasty on my part. An alternative might be an explicit switch to turn it off, just like we offer for individual axis or grid? It can get annoying and in the way sometimes. ___ Bf-committers mailing list
