Hi,

All the builds are up at their final destination.

We need to give some hours to let mirrors to sync, then we can modify the
download page. Release candidate builds will be removed once download page
is updated.

Re: [Bf-committers] Blender developers weekly meeting notes - 2017-09-11

2017-09-11 Thread Jacob Merrill
Just wanted to note that the UPBGE developer team is taking a break from
EEVEE integration to do some bug fixing and general maintenance on UPBGE.

UPBGE still does want to merge into the 2.8 project, but right they feel
with all the planned changes to the code, they will wait for eevee to
solidify a bit.

The game engine community is growing very fast these days, and having a bit
of certainty could increase this pace.

Thanks all for your efforts!

Here are the notes from today's 16 UTC meeting in irc.freenode.net

1) Blender 2.79 release

- Release Ahoy done! Builds are coming in now, they get a last test and then
need to be synced
by the mirrors. Official release is tomorrow daytime EU.

- Bastien Montagne will do the git release tag tomorrow. He will also updates
the bug fix
list and other changes since RC2.

- Pablo Vazquez manages the release log on blender.org, Francesco Siddi will do
the release on Steam.
Campbell Barton will publish the source.tgz on the download site.

2) Blender 2.8 projects

- A 2.8 splash (an Eevee render!) will be submitted this week.

- Dalai Felinto works on new doc with a good 2.8 design presentation
(representing work
done so-far).

- Clement Foucault will work in Blender Institute this week one day. Goal is to
schedule
6+ months of work on viewport.

- Joshua Leung accepted a Development Fund grant for 2 months to work on 2.9
Grease Pencil

- Attention module owners: please let us know what dependencies (libraries)
need to be upgraded?
For example OpenSubdiv, Cmake, minimal OSX version, etc. Mail this to the
bf-committers list.

- A topic to tackle soon: massive tracker cleanup - a lot of issues are not
valid for 2.8x.

- We have to merge the 2.8 branch with master one day... not soon, but
hopefully this year.

- Howard Trickey: the GSoC Vpaint branch is close to be merged in master.
Campbell Barton reviews.

[Bf-committers] Changes to list digest options

2017-09-11 Thread Dan McGrath
Hi,

It seems that a user noticed that digests were defaulted to monthly and
poked us. As a result, I went through and changed the digest mails to be
daily now, and standardised the lists to a size of 1MB for
the digest_size_threshhold, which should cause the list to send out a
digest early at this size and avoid sending too large of a digest that
could potentially be blocked by some mail providers.

Cheers,

Hi,

Bastien, Brecht doublechedked the fix and crash is solved for him [1]. So
no stoppers form my side.

As for 71f0c32, i think it's fine to backport. It's a regression after
all, which is solved. Didn't hear anyone complaining about the fix yet.

I've committed fix to the 2.79 branch.

Unfortunately, original bug i couldn't reproduce, so can not doublecheck
it fixes T52635. Would like Brecht to run test on his machine prior to AHOY.

Hi,

We need some time to deal with https://developer.blender.org/T52635

Please do not AHOY before it's solved or reverted in the release branch.

Plan is to ahoy this afternoon, so it's last moments in case you'd
like to
include some more commits ;)

Hi,

Backported requested changes, up-to-date list of backported commits

I’d propose to wait one more day and do release ahoy tomorrow?

There are two open questions currently re backporting:

* Sergey's 71f0c32 Fix T52522: VSE renders with alpha transparent PNG
image incorrectly

* Own set of fixes for crash with looptris / DM, those are rather
involved changes, on the other hand had no reported issues with them
in
over 2 weeks now, and they do fix annoying crashers in 2.79:

These two need to be included in 2.79 as well, otherwise rigid bodies

For Cycles (and maybe Alembic?) tests you need to use lib folder

days just
before ahoy then?

Also, did build and ran tests, aside from Cycles ones (guess
latest test
repo is no more aligned with 2.79 release code), everything
passes OK.

Technically, it should be included into 2.79, but some extra
tests are
needed.

Own commits which i think should go in:
