Re: [Bf-committers] DoS against blender.org

2018-07-30 Thread Dan McGrath
Hi,

Okay, it seems that they gave up. It was just blind port 53 traffic being
blasted at us, despite the fact that we don't even run DNS on the rack.
While it may have stopped now, this was one of several attacks today
against the servers. Hopefully it's done with though!

A pretty picture for the curious:

[Bf-committers] DoS against blender.org

2018-07-30 Thread Dan McGrath
Hi,

Well the subject pretty much says it all, but atm we are currently getting
hit with a full gigabit per second towards the server hosting www.

Not a whole lot to be done, but code related services may at least get some
packets out of the network.

Re: [Bf-committers] VSE code review / feedback

2018-07-30 Thread Richard Antalík
 Hi,

I have one more question:

Even if VSE will be unmaintained for some time, I am doing these changes
mainly for myself.
Should I share my patches on developer.blender.org?

Also I can provide a build for windows
is there any platform to advertise?
I have seen people complaining about VSE state a little, but everywhere.

And if you need maintainer urgently, maybe announce that on social media?

Well that was a lot of one questions :)

Regards,

Richard.

 Hi Richard,

The VSE is sort-of orphaned code in Blender. That means we'll welcome a
 new maintainer there urgently.

The main questions for you would be: are you available to maintain your
own patches (support in future), and would you be interested in working on
general issues in VSE (like bug fixing, review patches, etc)?

 Thanks,

 -Ton-

[Bf-committers] Blender developers meeting notes - 2018-07-30

2018-07-30 Thread Brecht Van Lommel
Hi all,

Here are the notes from today's developer meeting. Next meeting is Monday,
6 August 18:00 CEST (16:00 UTC).

1) Blender 2.8

* Grease Pencil merge is imminent, Antonio and the grease pencil team
coordinate to have videos ready to go when it happens. Latest new grease
pencil feature is a paper grid background.

* Bug tracker work continues, Bastien handles general triaging, Clément
works on OpenGL and Eevee stability on different graphics cards and
platforms.

* Work continues on subsurf/multires, outliner and collections, and the
tool system targets for the next Blender 2.8 Alpha/Beta release.

* Pablo and William decide on default matcaps and workspaces, to be
committed soon.

* Vuk Gardašević improved properties editor layouts for physics and
textures.

* Video about recent 2.8 development:

3) Other Projects

* master builds on Linux will require C+11 starting this week, to prepare
for library updates. Running install_deps.sh to rebuild dependencies with
C++11 may be required. Blender 2.8 and Linux/macOS already needed it.
