Re: [Bf-committers] Screenshots for release log 2.81

2019-11-18 Thread Dalai Felinto
Small reminder to NEVER embed videos hosted in personal youtube channels in
any of our public documents (release logs, user manual, code.blender.org,
...). In a weekly report or draft document on wiki is ok-ish.

If you cannot upload the video directly the video should be on
video.blender.org or one of the Blender official video channels (e.g.,
Blender Foundation and Blender Developers on YouTube). I can help with that.

(and yes I'm well aware we broke that rule to the manual, which is a
separate topic anyways with its own can of worms)

Hi Nathan,

I allowed mp4/mkv/webm extensions now, as well as enabled the EmbedVideo
extension in the wiki. Try again?

That makes sense. I put together a short video for the Outliner that covers
most of the changes but I could not upload it (in either format) to the
wiki, it seems that the file formats are not supported. There also doesn't
seem to be a method of embedding a YouTube video as far as I can tell. I
recall the old wiki supported embedded videos, is there a way to do this,
or should I just leave a link on the page?

Please use video files (MP4/h.264 or WebM/VP9), GIF has a horrible
compression ratio for video (among other downsides).

Hi

I would say so! At least for the wiki logs they should be more than fine. It
is probably up to Pablo Vazquez what he takes up to the website release
logs, but definitely OK for the wiki logs.

Hello,

I added a screenshot to "User Interface: Outliner". Most of the new
features there would be best shown with a video or GIF though. I have many
videos and GIFs that I captured throughout the GSoC, would these be
appropriate for the release notes?

[Bf-committers] Screenshots for release log 2.81

2019-11-11 Thread Nathan 'jesterKing' Letwory
Hey all,

We're getting close to release. Could we please
see some good screenshots added to the release notes [1]
to at least the sections 'Sculpt & Retopology',
'Viewport : Look Development', 'User Interface : Outliner',
'User Interface : Filebrowser', 'More Features'? An hour or two
today or tomorrow to put in these screenshots to show of our
new features would be very much appreciated. These will likely
end up also on the release log on blender.org .

Cheers,

/Nathan
