However, I relocated them there relatively recently and as best as I can
remember I had the same problem even when they were located in a non shared
folder.
I am on Sonoma 14.2.1

I am using auto-file, yes.
I don’t recall exactly when it started. But I don’t think it started with a
macOS update as I hadn’t updated for a long time. I was on Monterey and it had
been a problem for a while.
I thought perhaps updating to Ventura might solve it (I’m on an intel mac
still,
And also, in which macOS version did this start? It obviously must be a problem
with newer OS systems, because we didn’t change.
