I'll look into that, but the problem was reproducible when opening empty
bibliographies, which suggests that ill-formed author names is unlikely
to be the cause.
No crash reports for BibDesk.

Since yesterday, BibDesk has been refusing to open bib files. That is,
when I try to open one, nothing happens. I can create new bibliographies
