Best to wear gloves when you do that!

I hit this area too, this morning, on a ride -- we were at that point on the
trail at around 10:30 a.m. A good-citizen bicyclist had stopped at the first
spot ahead of us and was brushing glass off the path with his jacket --
otherwise we wouldn't have seen it until we were in it. He warned us about
another spot further on, which we weren't completely able to avoid, but we did
stop and brush off our tires immediately -- good thing, because there was
definitely at least one shard in my tread!

This almost had to be deliberate vandalism -- the extent of it, with lots of
glass spread over a wide area. I think I'm going to file a police report, even
if it doesn't lead anywhere.

Some saboteur shattered two different items that were made of glass on
the Capital City Trail between Dempsey and Dennett. People riding in
the dark will most likely run over one of these areas. That
Royster-Clark area is the vandels playground, I guess.

After I ran over the first area of broken glass (I avoided the second
area), I stopped and spun each tire while gently brushing the tire
with one hand. I learned to do that years ago. The idea is to brush
off any shards of glass before the the shards dig deeper and puncture
the tire. Was I doing this in vain?

So far, both tires are still inflated.
