Hi Ontbirders
The birding around Ste.Rose and the Casselman area was great this morning.
Highlights included 4 Snowy Owl along Con. 20, Con.19 and Ste. Rose Road. There
was also 8 Rough-legged Hawk scattered around and a flock of Snow Buntings with
a couple of Lapland Longspur and Horned Lark.
Peter Hogenbirk saw 2 short-eared owls at Bloor and Townline Rd in Oshawa this
morning ... I missed them literally by seconds ... later we saw a long-eared
owl near Oshawa's Second Marsh and had 6 great blue herons in the a small
outlet area in Second Marsh.

Hello ONTBirds,
The NORTHERN HAWK-OWL in Gatineau is still around at its preferred location,
despite the recent snowfall. I observed it from 10:45-11:30 this morning,
perched on the tall tree closest to the adjacent property on Boulevard
Hurtubise.
Good birding!

Birders,
I spent a couple of hours walking around Humber Bay Park's west side
starting from Mimico Creek (which splits the park's east west sides)
and heading west from there. At the creek, between the big white

Dear Ontbirds:
Since Sunday the Spotted Towhee has been feeding at or to the east
of the 42 latitude sign just south of the Tip gazebo in Pt. Pelee N.P.
I saw it 4' off the trail that leads to the east beach from the 42
latitude sign at 11:30AM on Wednesday. With it was an eastern
Sorry for the really late posting folks- I actually just forgot to post this

Hi Ontbirders,
In the last two days there have been two separate Great Gray Owl sightings
west of Almonte and Carleton Place.
Yesterday (Wednesday) a Great Gray was seen and photographed at about 3 pm
on the Upper Perth Road. By 4.30 pm, when we got there, it was gone and it
hasn't been
Hi Ontbirders:
Had part of the day off so paid the Northern Hawk Owl in
Gatineau another visit. The Hawk Owl isn't as particular now to a previous
favourite perch after the recent snowfall. It is moving around a bit more
but still in the same general location.
In the lead-up to Sunday's Christmas Bird Count at Presqu'ile Provincial
Park and the surrounding area, birders are acutely conscious of the
possibility that whatever they have seen this week may still be present
on the day of the count. This is likely a reasonable assumption, with

Hello Ontbirds subscribers,
Today while at LaSalle Park in Hamilton I observed a female BLACK-THROATED BLUE
WARBLER (presumably the one reported to Ontbirds earlier). It was on the far
side of the boardwalk, staying low in the scrubby bushes on either sides of the
trail. I observed it from
