intersection of Princeton and Redstone in the trees at the entrance to
Headwaters Park (Rouge River) Richmond Hill.

Since the last update to the 2012-2013 Ontario winter list on February
6, 4 new species have been added, giving us a total of 217 species. This is the
second highest total in the 6 years that we have been keeping track of
Ontario's annual winter list (a period running from December 1
The biggest surprise of the week was an OSPREY on the Cataraqui River.
The was a big influx of BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS, while finch observations
were limited mainly to COMMON REDPOLLS.

A very early returning OSPREY was seen flying over the Cataraqui River
at the Highway 401 bridge. The
Tim McCarthy and I spent over 2 hours searching for the sparrow and
finally found it feeding under or near the bird feeders at the front
of the house just east of 6547 Ellis Road (this latter address is
where it apparently has been seen in recent day or weeks). As per
previous report this
The waterfowl viewing on the South side of the Island was outstanding! Hundreds
of Scaup,Goldeneye,plus a scattering of Buffleheads and Redheads mixed in. A
number of raptors plus two Kestrel and one Snowy owl just south of the village.

The bird is still here at Humber Bay West about 200 meters out where the lake
meets the bay.
There is a Pied-billed Grebe at Humber Bay East.

In a failed attempt to relocated the Richmond Northern Hawk Owl, a Great Grey
owl was discovered. It was in originally in the wood lot at the end of
Richland Driver (just past the gate on the left). It flew west towards the
tree line by the open field where I was then able to photograph the in
