The first long weekend of the Huron Fringe Birding Festival went quite well,
with a total of 181 species seen over 4 days. The weather has been cooler than
the average for this time of year and a lot of migrants have arrived late on
the Bruce Peninsula.

While exiting the 401 at Salem Rd, Ajax at 18:30 on May 29, i observed a pefa
flying overhead and landing on the light standard on the 401 median. I then
noticed a second one on the adjacent light standard. The first one then took
flight circling around the second bird. Take 401 to Ajax, exit
A Common Nighthawk started "booming" or "vooming" at 8:55 pm tonight over
Bloor St. W. and Dovercourt Rd., Toronto

At 1pm May 29th, I relocated the Western Grebe at Sam Smith park at entrance to
Marina on west end of park. Very close to shore for good looks.
Mixing with red necked grebes and sleeping.
