Birders enjoyed the ongoing good variety and numbers of winter finches this
week. Purple Finch, Red Crossbill, White-winged Crossbill and Pine Siskin were
reported in song. Canada Jay researchers had found 12 nests under construction
by today. Spruce Grouse continued to feed and roost in spruce

Ryan Griffiths just re-found the Western Grebe in the river near the marina.
The Marina is on Nelson Street, Niagara on the Lake
Charmaine.

ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the
provincial birding organization.
A photo of a Western Grebe was posted in the Ontario Birds Facebook Group —
bird was seen yesterday by the marina in Niagara on the Lake — individual that
saw the bird went back today and wasn’t able to locate it. These are all the
details that I have.

Highlights:
Opinion may vary on whether these are highlights or lowlights, but the
influx of RING-BILLED GULLS and male RED-WINGED
The Wilson's Warbler was still present at Sedgewick Forest this morning,
together with Golden-crowned (at least 2 or 3) and one Ruby-crowned
Kinglet.
Both near the northeast corner of the water treatment facility.
