Around 9:30 this morning I had an Aechmophorus grebe off Gibraltar Point on the
Toronto Islands. The bird was hard to see in the choppy water and I couldn't
refind it after my initial sighting, so can't be sure it wasn't a Clark's. I
searched for it again around noon and couldn't find it.

The bird was in the lake opposite the island water treatment plant. There is a
path leading to the beach through the dunes just east of the Gibraltar Point
arts center building. There is a small jetty sticking out into the lake here.
It was with a large flock of mostly Long-tailed Ducks and White-winged Scoters.

This location is a fairly long walk from the Ward's Island ferry dock (about an
hour) and you'll need a scope to search. From the ward's island ferry terminal,
walk west along the main road until you get to the location described above.

The ferry terminal is located at the foot of Bay St (Bay/Queens Quay) in
Toronto.
