Report for Tuesday 25 October 2011: 13 species of diurnal raptors totaling
588 individuals were seen Tuesday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on moderate west
and northwest winds.

Turkey Vulture: 308

Bald Eagle: 1 juvenile at 11:35 a.m. 

Northern Harrier: 9

Sharp-shinned Hawk: 45

Cooper's Hawk: 2

Northern Goshawk: 1 juvenile

Red-shouldered Hawk: 13

Broad-winged Hawk: 1 (probable, waiting to examine photos)

Red-tailed Hawk: 195

Rough-legged Hawk: 1 light morph

Golden Eagle: 1 juvenile at 12:28 a.m. 

American Kestrel: 3

Peregrine Falcon: 1

Unidentified Buteo: 6

Unidentified Raptor: 1

Total species: 13

Total individuals: 588

Other birds: 42 species including 1 Common Gallinule, 3 American Coot, 1
Pied-billed Grebe, 1 Greater and 3 Lesser Yellowlegs, 1 Great Egret, 2
Belted Kingfishers, several flocks of Pine Siskins flying east, many Rusty
Blackbirds.

Directions Cranberry: Exit Highway 401 at Brock St. in Whitby (not Brock Rd
in Pickering), go south on Brock to Victoria St. Go west on Victoria to
Halls Road. Go south on Halls Road to the second short walkway going east to
the Cranberry Marsh Lookout.
